My Price Match Policy was and continues to be a failure in terms of sales. Why? Because more than 95% of my customers are not board readers.
I have a 10-20% DISCOUNT properly advertised offer for all the boards where I'm a member or a sponsor. I have a BIG BANNER and a written text directly on my website's homepage about the PRICE MATCH POLICY yet less than 1% of my orders ever mention a forum discount request or price match.
I myself found the answers to these dilemmas along the way. This is a different business that doesn't follow the classic pattern of marketing manuals due to the existence of other elements involved in this equation, not similar of buying from Walmart.
There is a seizure rate, a scam possibility, low quality products etc .. with no competent authority that you can complain to. These things keep the customers cautious and loyal to their successful experiences. The risk of changing a good partnership for a few dollars isn't worth it. A successful delivery to a first time customer followed by the expected results would 99% bring multiple orders no matter your price policies. That's a fact I can vouch for
