I do agree with your “corporate socialism” term. I think that’s what we are in now. Small businesses are being eliminated while Walmart Target and Amazon are reporting exponential growth. In socialism you give money to the government and they decide where it goes. Corporate socialism is far worse because I don’t remember electing Jeff Bezos to be a bizzilionaire decision maker.

I also believe a big part of the problem is we aren't all on the same page. Some places are open and acting like nothing is going on, other places have everything shut down and people are scared to leave their homes.
Instead of either a) minimizing disease or b) minimizing economic damage we decided to do c) none of the above.

I considered the case hopeless and just bullshit once it became politicized. Now we have the cons of both scenarios.

Do nothing, I’ve been going to work in a major city with my homeland security clearance because I’m an essential employee this entire time. Don’t tell me I’m doing nothing. I’ve watched people around me lose their jobs, I’ve watched people around me lose loved ones, and I’ve watch people bitch about how people are just sitting home on their asses collecting money from the government. I’m not one of those people and I’m not a bleeding heart liberal do gooder. Yes, I live on the coast, yes, my states blue, yes we’ve been locked down, yes, it’s impacted the curve.

I understand what you are saying but I’m in the camp that long term effects of shutting down business, churches, support groups, etc will far outweigh the effects of the virus. Healthy People are losing everything they have worked for because they are being forced to shut down. The fear being instilled is purely political and that’s the sad part. I used to be in the starting line up at meso for several years. My best days are behind me now. I'm not upset about it. Its Nature. 165 game season is a grind. A man has to know his limitations.
When the owners broke the players union and implemented random testing, steroids made the papers and the sexy color articles in mags like SI. What really hurt was the testing of banned stims. Scripts for Adderall and Dexadrine(greenies) written by Dr's for players went up 150% in the months after testing was implemented.
Thats how guys played 165 games and still played at their highest levels in Sept and October. Its how they drank a case of beer the night before a double header and played 18 innings the next day.
As a kid I can remember seeing guys twitching and chewing their faces off. Most guys looked like they were wound super tight. Ready to explode. Wasn't roid rage. They were tweeking.
