Telmisartan hypertension rebound

There is no rebound hypertension with Angiotensin II receptor blockers in the way that clinicians use the term (blood pressure going above pre-treatment levels). Beta blocker withdrawal, for example, can lead to a rebound hypertensive crisis (ie blood pressure will be higher than pre-treatment). If you stop taking ARB, your blood pressure will just go back to where it was before treatment.

Is this true? Then why everyone is saying not to just stop taking it?

Because they categorize general antihypertensives with beta blockers

People repeat bullshit without actually checking it. Just like they say you can't drink on Antibiotics. When in reality you can drink on most of them.

(Just cause you can drink on Antibiotics doesn't mean you should btw)

I personally believe it's best practice to titrate down certain pharmaceuticals, including ARB's. That being said, you'll realistically go back to baseline BP after stopping Telmisartan, which could or could not be a bad thing. This also depends on what you're taking it for.

My doctor appointments are only every 6 months max. So I bought a blood pressure cuff on Amazon and adjust my anti-hypertensive medications as necessary.

I wouldn't do anything cold turkey in this realm.

Gradually titrate up to a dose that controls BP or slowly titrate down to find the minimal effective dose. Which might eventually be zero.
