The Over 40 Guy & Steroids

Thanks for the insight Shredded. The 4 steps back analogy you made is very accurate. Seems gains are lost so fast and I have never been able to take much time off as probably most of you can relate. However in this situation I really have no choice as the pain is quite intense and cortisol does not interest me in the least. I have been doing some cardio and abs, will ramp that up. As for taking a cycle at this stage in your life do you see more benefits as opposed to when you were younger? Also are the risks greater as you get older or do they remain the same keeping in mind that you dont overdue it and follow all the protocols.

Dennis I can't wait till you age a little more, then maybe you will understand aging a little more. Your posts should be deleted based on the irregularity of your comments. You make me laugh. I am turning 51 and understand just where you are headed. Even you later recommend 500mg Test after you deny my post. Make up your mind. I give my opinion based on my personal aging experience nothing more. A small run of Deca like 200mg a week will not cause any bloat. The benefit to collagen production and joint health is a plus. Keep the diet tight and eliminate all salts the best one can. Drink fluids (water like there is no tomorrow)
Smoky..I am looking forward to aging myself ! Yeah..maybe the big boys will delete all my posts since they are so irregular.I am glad to know I make you laugh. You are 100% correct this guy should do 200 mgs per week of deca. Thanks for the tip on water...I have never thought about that one before. d
On a side note..like another post has already stated..i did use cortisone for my tendonitis..it made me feel no pain for 1 month..so i kept lifting..when the corto wore off my injury was worse than before.Hell to get old..oh yeah..i just forgot and smokey reminded me..I am not old yet !

Deca can do the same thing as Cortisone ;)

Hey Barbender,
I see heaps more benefits at my age now than when I was in my 30's (when I did my last cycle). Firstly, the recovery rate when you're 45 is half that when you're 30; you just don't have the same physical attributes no matter how fit or strong you think you are. I've seen guys at my age turn into superman. I've kept myself in good shape both from a cardiovascular perspective and in terms of bodyfat. I believe I've gone as far as I can naturally. There are a few guys of similar age and some older than me at my gym that have been on Test/Eq or Tren cycles and they look like they're in their 30's physique wise. One guy is 48 and 5% bodyfat; he's ripped. I'm also a lot smarter about the way I train; I want quality not quantity. In terms of the risks - they're minimal if you follow the protocols as you say.
cheers,
Dave

Barbender,
One thing I forgot to mention: diet is super important. When you reach your 40's you can't get away with eating junk. I'm on a very strict low carb diet. This works best for me. No bread, dairy (except skim milk) sugar or salt. 6 smaller meals a day works for me. Your metabolism is much slower so you have to compensate for this. One thing that the Test/Eq combo does to men in their 40's (from what I've seen) is it reduces bodyfat significantly when the diet is spot on. My 2 bob's worth anyway.:)

Buncha fucking wimps. I'm 57, shoot my roids directly into my balls every day, eat nothing but raw liver & drink my water with scotch whisky. I work out first thing in the morning to shake off the hangover & never sleep alone. Never bathe, never brush. After that I pick up my pension check so I can continue to piss off the world by living like there is no tomorrow.

HDH..in case you did not catch my sarcasm I was trying to be a smart ass on my last post. When you have tendonitis in your elbows deca will not usually take away the pain like it can in your joints.

Again thanks Shredded I appreciate the info. I have adjusted my diet accordingly as with the frustration of not lifting I want to eat every piece of junk food I can find. I also appreciate your observations on doing a cycle in your 40's. As mentioned I have never done AAS but noticed that lately gains are harder to come by, recovery takes forever and well I am not 18 anymore. I will heal up my tendonitis first then start my search for a source. I bought the book from William Llewellyn and have been doing my research. They have tightened the loopholes here in Canada about mail order stuff and in BC in particular (Solo you are a man amongst men out here it seems) anyway will keep you posted on my progress. I am fighting the urge to amputate my elbows.....

I couldn't do any dumbbell laterals for almost a half year before mine healed up.

Of all the excersizes I can thing of that would be the most painfull right now. Followed closely by bicep curls.

dennis in case you didn't catch the meaning of my statement I was saying that in the end, Deca can make your injuries worse like the Cortisone as you had stated earlier ;)

Hang in there Barbender. Llewellyn's book is a good resource; however nothing beats experience. The guys (and girls) on this forum have been there done that, so sign in regularly and you'll get a lot of sound advice. Good luck with those elbows!

Get lab work done before you start your cycle to establish a baseline and make sure everything is were it should be. Tren A every other day along with your choice of test (50 mg test p is ideal). Personally I handle 100 mg Tren A EOD great. You will need to adjust dosage to suit your own personal tolerance. Also research how often to pin which ever test to choose. I keep test dose lower then tren. Have adex on hand if you need it for sides. Remember pct recovery might be more difficult at our age. Last 2 weeks of my cycle I will use hcg before rolling into pct. Get labs again mid and post pct.
