These traditionalists live in a culture that knows nothing of steroids, and can be just as bad as a teen taking them in my opinion. Additionally, such guys are simple black belts and are blinded by the false sense of security the belt provides. But that my .02.
Read what you wrote. "These traditionalists......additionally, such guys are simple blackbelts". So as far as you referring to Mcdojo simple blackbelts, as you stated in your second post, well, forgive me for not knowing what you were implying when you stated something completely different.
Why would you ask for opinions, and admit that you thought they would be interesting, and then get all sore in the ass when somebody has an opinion which differs from yours? Re-read what I wrote about Jeet Kune Do and Bruce Lee. There was no disrespect, merely the opinion that he wouldn't be able to compete with a top-level mixed martial artist.
Krav Maga is a great style because of its real-world effectiveness and applicability to life-and-death combat. But Krav Maga has a basic premise which excludes it from wholly being used in MMA, and that is to use whatever weapons are available, whether it be your M-4 or a big stick or a jagged rock. Can Krav Maga techniques be used in the cage? Absolutely. Would you be better off dedicating your time to Muay Thai, boxing, wrestling, jiu-jitsu, judo, or even sambo? Absolutely. All this is assuming you are training to fight in an MMA bout.
And to retort to your "every serious martial artist or cage fighter should know of" the whole Mcdojo thing, I find it hilarious. Who cares? If we had a guy in the gym who had a lot of talent and was ready for his first fight, but lacked the confidence and serenity that comes with your first couple wins, who better for him to fight than a wannabe chump from one of your Mcdojos? There are always going to be pretenders and delusional "tough-guys" who help start the career of future talents. And somebody who is serious about a fighting career will be able to distinguish between a legit gym and one of the money-makers.
Did you miss the part about me getting my brown-belt from a Gracie school? I don't need the history of the Gracie family, and I'm not sure why you even included it other than to try to establish that you know more about jiu-jitsu than me. By the way, the "middle brother" that you couldn't remember the name of, is Rickson Gracie, and he is undefeated in over 400 jiu-jitsu matches against the best in the world. However, Royce was picked for the UFC because his brothers were fighting in other no-holds barred competitions already. Rickson, to my knowledge, has never had an interest in any other fighting competition besides jiu-jitsu.
Next time you ask for opinions, don't act so indignant when somebody has a strong one. And next time you start a thread, don't assume that you don't have to clarify ambiguous statements and questions. And don't even start to think that I'm one of those pathetic internet tough-guys, because anybody who has read my other posts knows that is not my M.O.
Hey musulman, do steroids give you better hand-eye coordination? Do they make your neurons fire faster and thereby your reflexes sharper? Do they make your punches straighter or your hips turn through a roundhouse? Steroids do not make fighters out of wannabes, they do not make skilled strikers out of bar-room brawlers, and they certainly do not make champions out of chumps. They merely take a fighter, no matter what skill set, and make him stronger. Not everyone who takes steroids in MMA is trying to compensate for insecurites, just as not everyone buggers somebody is gay....... or are they?
