You pull it back towards the syringe when you want to inject, when done push the safety back towards the needle till it locks in place. No need to put the cap back on as the safety thing will prevent accidental poking. Good for those injecting someone else cause it can help avoid accidentally pricking themselves, but there’s tricks with the standard caps as well.
