Too little calories to lose weight effectively?

Hi fellas.

Got a question. Just wondering if my diet as of lately is potentially a problem.

So I'm trying to cut weight down for the past 5 weeks. And I don't think its working very well.

My TDEE is somewhere around 3,200ish calories per day. Currently I am consuming 1700 per day tops and I'm doing lots of regular cardio and I do not even subtract the calories burnt from this figure. If I did, I would say it would drop to around 1000-1100.
A week ago I did clen for 2 weeks at doses around 160-200mcg on average and saw a couple pounds gone in the first week and then another 5 pounds gone the second week. However after coming off I've found that I've gained most of it back except 2 pounds. Im doing everything the same still as if im still on the clen (same calorie intake, same exercise)

I work out 5 days a week. Doing cardio every one of those days doing anywhere from 30-45 mins per day, I also lift for 45 mins each of those days.

Apart from the calories I told you about. I have the weekend off (2 days) and tend to treat myself eating 3000-4000 cals a day.

My question is essentially am I eating too little during the week to lose weight at a good pace? And is the 2 days off I mention going to be the cause of not losing so fast, or is it more the calories being too low during the week?

Thanks for reading.

Height, weight, BF%?

In general, two days at nearly triple your dieting intake is going to fuck your progress six ways to Sunday.

This.

Was going to say when you're working on dropping weight, you should generally overestimate calories in and underestimate calories out. Because most calculators that 'track' energy expenditure are a general estimate at best.

But Mac pretty much nailed it. Lol.

Stop stuffing the one hole and you'll drop it.

5ft 11, 105kg, 25% BF.

I very well thought it could be due to that. But in my head I rationalised it as, if I added all those extra calories up it would still come way under my TDEE on a weekly basis. Or does it literally not work like that? As the TDEE calculator site gives you your calories breakdown by day + week.

In general...yes.

But if you’ve been doing that for weeks your body is now adjusted to that average. Drop cals more (mainly by just not binging weekends) and progress will return.

Your caloric deficit number isn’t static. Same for surplus. Your body loves homeostasis. It fights to adapt and get
comfortable. Keep it uncomfortable.

Thanks for the tip. I do always overestimate the calories in a little and as I mentioned I dont even count the calories I burn. So realistically my daily calories if you subtract the burnt will be much lower than 1700.

I see where you are coming from. I think I will just have to drop my binge days to only one day a week in that case. Or the other alternative will be to eat even less mid week, however I don't think that'll be the best idea.
As a bonus I dont suppose theres any legal supplements/pills you can buy that will help with the weight loss, that actually work and arent BS?
Im going back on Clen next week, coupled with Diphenhydramine to hopefully have a better effect.

OTC weight solutions are garbage. Food and cardio are the keys. AAS can tip the scales in your favor but only so far.

That's what I am led to believe. I do plan to do AAS soon, but I wanted to cut more fat before that.

Am I right to cut the fat down first before? And if so what is the optimal BF for starting AAS?
As it is, I have more fat in my chest area than anywhere else and so I do not want to exacerbate that and have full blown gyno.
Having never done AAS before I was first thinking of doing straight test, but after doing some research I thought that a test, anavar and clen stack would be a good combo to put on some muscle whilst still cutting fat. What do you think? As I'm guessing you are far more experienced than me.

Sorry for all the questions. Once again, thanks very much for the info!

I'd get a handle on the diet and training first. If you don't you're just wasting your time with any kit you run.

Results will be shit because you're relying on the kit to do the work for you. It's not a magic bullet, just a tool to add to a well thought out and disciplined routine.

Yes! Food is sooooo important! The simple truth is most people are not willing to make the diatary sacrifices and instead look for magic in a bottle sold by some snake oil salesman. Nothing can substitute hard work and diet, NOTHING! And like Mac said AAS are only meant to supplement, not replace.

Personally I do a cheat meal a week, a cheat day and especially a cheat weekend is probably reasonable if trying to maintain weight but to lose weight I’d drop the two cheat days into one cheat meal, don’t sit down and Binge for 4 hours in one sitting but if you wanted a nice sub or a pizza then get it but the rest of the day eat clean and still go to the gym and act like it’s day if the week.

Your numbers seem really off. If you’re not counting your exercise then for 5’11 105kg should be around 2500 TDEE. 3200 sounds like a TDEE with 90 minutes of exercise which you describe later.

Your other problem is your binging on the weekends, I don’t binge at all and and have no issues with it. But going from 1700 to 3-4,000 is insane. I’m not even sure how you can binge 4,000 clean calories while dieting the rest of the week. Assuming you’re taking in 1700/day plus 3500 weekend thats 15,500 weekly total. If you’re expending 3200 each weekday plus 2500 base on the weekend you’re burning 21,000 calories through the week. Total weekly deficit is 5,500 calories, or about 1.5lbs a week which lines up with your losing a few pounds the first week then 2lbs the week after the clen.

I’m of the impression that your counts are just wrong and you’re actually right on track for what you’re doing.

What I’d do is split your 1,700 calories throughout the day into at least 4 meals. Stop binging for the whole weekend, one cheat meal for the weekend, maybe one each day at most. It’s easy to add some bbq sauce to chicken or butter herb to a steak and have a much better tasting meal while adding a few hundred calories at most instead of pizza and wings with a tub of ice cream.

As far as the AAS, only you can make that decision, I was about your BF when I did a cycle but that was mainly for the NPP and recovering from joint injuries, I couldn’t do a push-up or DB fly without severe pain. Now I’m setting a foundation naturally to take the most advantage of an upcoming blast.

Check out the training log I have posted, I got pictures at the end of me going from 205 to 199 in 2 weeks. So twice your rate of weight loss while eating around 2,000 calories a day and I’m never hungry. Even eating the same meals on the weekend I get caught up in TV or house work so I’m not really hungry then feel like I’m eating like a pig just to get in those same 2000 calories.

What are your goals? Reading this thread sounds bi-polar at high speed. Reduced calories followed by binge weekends?!? Clen, Diphenhydramine and then asking about starting AAS?

Being 'fit' is a lifestyle. If you gotta binge then being 'fit' isn't really important to you. Pick a lifestyle that slowly gets you down to a weight you want. Cheats and fluctuations confuse the body and wire it to hold on to weight. Also, never think you can compensate for eating more by exercising more. Exercise always has a wall regarding hormones - read about what elevating cortisol does for muscles, bones, joints, cardiovascular, etc ..., and how easy it is to over exercise and raise cortisol. It is actually better to have a little fat than excess cortisol.

In the end it is what are YOUR goals and what is REALLY important to you. Health IS a LIFESTYLE, not a yo-yo.
