And you feel ready? Two more weeks of truck driving school left for me.
And you feel ready?
Great to hear and hope the last week's work out well for you.Not really, but I'm good enough to get from point A to point B. The rest will come with time behind the wheel.
Have you committed to a company yet? You will be with a trainer for a few months wherever you go. Been in the biz for years. Two more weeks of truck driving school left for me.

Companies are so hard up and desperate paying your dues isnt what it used to be.
Prolly walk right in to a local gig
I asked my regional mgr. He said we need you to have 1 yr. So thats out.I've got my eye on a few. One of them my cousin worked for briefly and he knows the owner. It's all night shift, which i hate working nights, but I know the area somewhat and traffic would be almost zero during that time. Would be good for getting used to it.

Spend the time and get your tanker, hazmat, twic card and doubles and triples endorsement! Make your self valuable and not limited by just a class A. There all easy ass test to take! I didn't even study for my doubles and triples test I took a few months back. In and out 30min
"X" is the hardest to obtain and definitely the most expensive.
Tankers is a no brainer. Easy to get. An awakening experience when you pull one of those hogs and the sloshing n all. Itll change the way you drive.
Bus endorsement is easiest to get.
Get ur coil endorsement. Easy. That opens up the future for flat bed endeavors.
Doubles n triples is a funny thing. I wouldnt get involved IRL right away with that. Youll need every card in your deck just to make it your first 2 yrs accident free. No need to over complicate things.
Back home in NY you had to be certified in doubles and triples. For good reason and your hrs had to be certified by your trainer to pass u on.
I see down here that isnt so. Anybody can do it
And that scares me. Alot
I guess coils is solely a NY required endorsement...i didnt realize that at first.I heard tankers are different. Livestock, too. There's an 18 year old in my class that just finished high school a few months ago and livestock is what he wants to do. He can't even leave the state on his CDL till he's 21, but he's got a job lined up with a local farm.
I prefer flatbed of the two trailers we've used so far. Doubles and triples seems like something for those with more experience than six weeks of school. I'll look into coils, they haven't mentioned that yet.

If u like flat bed i would recommend TMC.
A relative of mine fresh out of school signed up and worked for them his first 2 or 3 yrs. Clocked over 80k with no experience. He worked every load he could get and slept only 10 and was where he needed to be when he said he would be. Exceptional company. Pride when you work there. Clean spiffy long nose black petes and there NEVER dirty.
AllOTR, regional or local?
You hit the nail there! TMC is a great company! I didn't realize they started drivers fresh out of school. Guess it could be a good thing. Catch them before they pick up bad habits from guys like me lol. I would choose TMC over just about any flat bed company. Clean ass petes as well! Not sure where your at but stay the fuck away from cypress trucking! I hauled hoppers for a while OTR home every weekend. Made good money as a owner operator.I guess coils is solely a NY required endorsement...i didnt realize that at first.
