Here is a fun fact though, your free blood gets sold anywhere from 200-800$ per bag of blood to hospitals or other facilities. And can range higher depending on supply and demand etc.

And then health insurance companies will NOT reimburse a hospital that charges for blood, based on the assumption that it is free to the hospital.

And since my blood type isn't rare, I don't donate blood. I do however "donate" my plasma which brings in $400 extra per month, tax free. Great gear or vacation money.

I plan to donate once my cycle is complete and that does sound like a good deal. My blood type is A which is fairly common but donating plasma may well be worth it.
