Ultra quick syringe filtering ?

Hey fellas, here is the thing.
Recently I got myself a hold of 100x sterile nylon 22u syringe filters.
So I better use them, hence I've started experimenting.
This evening I've tried to filter oil with 3ml luer lock syringe,
both with vented sealed vial and then vial which was uncrimped,
to see if there was any difference in speed.

Those 3ml of oil went through syringe filter like in a couple of seconds, I mean wow.
Now the question is:
Is it safe to just push syringe filter against vial which was sterilized and once you finish filling up the vial you just put rubber stopper and crimp it,
Or its better way to put rubber stopper on sterilized vial, vent it with 25g and put sterile 23 needle inside, and start filtering 3ml,
once 3ml is done just unscrew syringe, leave sterile needle inside the stopper, and get another 3ml of mixed homebrew, connect syringe to needle and filter again.
I mean it goes reaaally fast with that 3ml syringe.
What ya guys think?

In my opinion, every time you swap the syringe you are increasing your chance for contamination and/or knocking that vial over. It would work just fine, but one pass in with even a 10ml over filled would likely be better that moving it around changing syringes.

It should be just as fast crimping on the top and filling. You could still use your method and it would probably be safer as you won't be dealing with the entire open vial.

Just my 0.02

Try replacing the filter
to me it sounds too quick
maybe you blew the filter membrane?

nah, it was brand new sealed sterile nylon syringe filter,
but i've tried pure oil without powder and solvents.
Afterwards I've mixed some old boldenone I had with oil and tried to filter afterwards,
it was going considerably harder.
it would be pain in ass to syringe filter 10ml of homebrew with 3ml syringe

30ml and a caulk gun. I tried 60 but my gun wouldn't take it until I had hand pressed 30ml. Lesson learned.

thanks mate, I'll give it a try,
did you made any customization for proper syringe fitting into caulk gun?
or you just snapped it in to place

I use to put the syringe in the caulk gun the run tape around the caulk gun/syringe to hold it down in place

anyone have an issue with using the caulk gun on a 60CC syringe, and having oil leak through and sit on top of the plunger when filtering?

I think i may be applying too much pressure on the caulk gun, I hate seeing that oil go to waste.

Probably too much pressure as you said. I keep my finger on the trigger with light pressure and eventually will get it to "click" into position. Then I hang it on the back of a chair or something until it slows down again.

Yea im constantly applying pressue to it. Pretty much I want it to go as fast as possible so I try to keep the stream of oil flowing FAST. I will have to ease up a bit on my next batch.

Very easy to blow membrane with too much pressure from caulk gun if in a big hurry. Not worth it take your time, you blow the filter and gotta start all over with new filter vial etc. I have also had same issue with using 60ml syringe, that shit sure works up a sweat before you get enough out to fit in the caulk gun. If you have oil leaking from filter I would stop, start over with new syringe, new filter, new vial, and new needle. If your using ethyl oleate or guaiacol this can cause the filter to degrade as well if your not using pdvf

I feel you on the 60l syringe, that shit sucks. I then got over zealous with caulk gun after what seemed like forever filtering by. Hamd, blew out membrane with caulk gun and had to begin process all over start to finish. Live and learn, the whole "slow and steady wins the race " deal

I'm just glad I found 50 ct 30 ml syringes on amazon now for like $16.50 as opposed to gpz prices plus the free shipping, vs ther $28 (if I remember right, it's been 2 years)

50 syringes?
Syringe filters are meant for personal use production only. They totally suck for anything larger, even just for a few friends.
You only need 1 large syringe, you can clean it and reuse it many times. It doesn't need to be sterile, that's why you have the filter.

If it's for something larger
Zapcaps suck as well
whatmanzap_2_9.jpg

you need a vaccum pump, as compared to ubiquitous syringes
yet production ain't THAT fast (and they sometimes leak)
worst of both worlds IMO

For anything larger
go with capsule-type filters like Polycaps

IMO they're better run with vacuum, pretty much like Zapcaps.
They can be used with positive pressure at the top, but that'd be too troublesome IMO.

I would prefer a new syringe and filter everytime, but thank you for your advice. I can get 100 .2 filters for $39 and the syringes will have different esters ran through, I do not want npp to have traces of decanoate, or test prop to have traces of enan or cyp etc. Would suck to have a long lasting in ester remaining therefore throwing off actual pct timing

I tend to make 100-200 ml at a time for personal use only so no need for large filtering systems, and other high dollar equipment. I used to brew beer and still have kegerator, co2 tanks, corny kegs and connectors, bottle cappers, alc booster (which in retrospect is just corn sugar) that I have not used since I quit drinking. I try to go bare minimum on purchasing unnecessary toys/tools if a little more work saves money I'm good with that, same as working on my cars. Shopped around a bit and I replaced my fuel pump with a new one off amazon for $24 with free shipping. Shop quoted me $300+ with their parts, didn't have to drop the tank so only took 20 min because one stupid connecter was stuck or it would have been 12-15 min.
