What is your opinion of abortion?

sj, i do understand where you're coming from ... and that's what makes this a good conversation for people, like you said when they can take something away from all this. "choice" yah not the best of words ... been a tough topic, but it has been very enlightening too ...
Tough topic indeed and while i do respect opinions we all don't have to agree...that will never happen but you do have to stand up for what you believe in....think I worry more about the people who just don't care one way or the other because I know they can't be touch by anyone. As long as there are conversations of this nature a few people at a time have a change of heart.

Whats up Crew? Hope your feeling better.

This what I was saying earlier...its all a matter of time before this is acedemic and there will be some sort of population control. Humans are destoying the planet and the US being the police state it is will be the second on board behind China to impliment population control.

Sooner or later this is fact, like it or not.

Soil and greens anyone?

what's up PF. yeah i've been in and out of the doctor's the past couple weeks. nothing new yet. i agree w/ your views on abortion bro. "us humans are special". we're special enough to kill the whole damn planet if we allow ourselves to continue to breed without restrictions.

When the world even becomes close be being overpopulated then let me know. Because as of 2004 it is not even close! You can take the world's population and have the people stand side by side and it will only take up the area of Jacksonville Florida.

i dont think that's a FACT, but i could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time. but if you have proof let me know.

My thoughts exactly, Gary.

Grizz, I dont think Desi was trying to get an emotional response. Im sure it was just a wrong choice of wording, not a conscious decision regarding "Oh, well using this word will make it sound REALLY bad." Give the kid some slack.

now that was funny :p ... a little comic relief is good.

Population density for the world, roughly 29 people per square kilometer. Not exactly a lack of shoulder room.

Edit: Ok, that # was for total area, inlcluding surface water area. Only using land, its about 100 people per sq. km. Still not a crowded place.

Ok, I'll give him some slack and, by doing so, I take away some of the credit I gave him. He probably did not choose that word intentionally, but all the pro-lifers sure as fuck do. It's an emotional appeal. Call it a fetus and it sounds unimportant, but call it a BABY and all of a sudden it sounds bad.

To whomever caught the memory thing-

Yes, I realize that it's a semi-faulty argument. However, an ebryo/fetus is far, far from a fully developed human being. An infant, though memory-less as an adult, IS a fully developed human being.

To add more to the debate and maybe slightly alter the course of this thread... What about "pulling the plug" on a "vegetable"?

This is analogous to abortion in that the individual on life support can not survive without the support of the machines. Likewise, the fetus can not survive without the support of the mother's body.

If you believe it's alright to "pull the plug" then I don't see where you can argue against abortion.

Bob its not now but the future. Also its viable land not desert and mountains. It is also the resourses that you have to worry about. The population has gone from 2.5 billion in 1950 to 6 billion now. Heres a chart. http://www.census.gov/ipc/www/img/worldpop.gif

Things are only getting worse and you can choose to ignore it but its not gonna make it go away.
