Here is some info that the media deems unworthy to be emphasized to the general public. Its no f-ckin wonder why so many people look down on our involvement in Iraq....all the info fed to us is NEGATIVE!!! We rarely EVER hear of the stuff listed below. We are constantly spoon fed the horrible incidents that take place on a daily basis. Enjoy...

A US Navy Chaplain's View of Iraq - Feb 2004

Making the rounds of GI e-mail traffic in Iraq these days is the following
inspiring missive by a US Navy Chaplain. It is reproduced below in its
entirety and exactly as written:

Since President Bush declared an end to major combat on May 1:

The first battalion of the new Iraqi Army has graduated and is on active
duty (~60,000 Iraqis providing security to citizens).

Nearly all of Iraq's 400 courts are functioning.

The Iraqi judiciary is fully independent.

Power generation hit 4,518 megawatts (Oct), exceeding prewar output.

All 22 Universities & 43 technical institutes/colleges are open

Nearly all primary and secondary schools are open.

Coalition has "rehabbed" 1,500+ schools (500 ahead of schedule).

Teachers earn from 12-25 times their former salaries.

All 240 hospitals and more than 1200 clinics are open.

Doctors salaries are at least 8 times what they were under Saddam.

Pharmaceutical distribution has gone from almost zero to 12,000 tons.

Coalition has helped administer 22 million+ vaccinations to children.

Coalition has cleared 14,000+km of Iraq's 27,000 km of weed-choked canals
which now irrigate tens of thousands of farms. This project has created
100,000+ jobs for Iraqi men & women.

Coalition has restored over 3/4 of prewar telephone services and 2/3+ of
potable water production.

4,900+ full-service telephone connections (~50,000 by year-end).

Commerce is expanding rapidly (bicycles, satellite dishes, cars, trucks,
etc.) in all major cities and towns.

95% of all prewar bank customers have service and first-time customers are
opening accounts daily.

Iraqi banks are making loans to finance businesses.

The central bank is fully independent.

Iraq has one of the world's most growth-oriented investment and banking
laws.

Iraq has a single, unified currency for the first time in 15 years.

Satellite TV dishes are legal.

Foreign journalists are not on "10-day visas" paying mandatory fees to the
Ministry of Information for minders. There is no such Ministry.

There are 170+ newspapers.

Foreign journalists (and everyone else) are free to come and go.

A nation that had not one single element - legislative, judicial or

executive - of a representative government, now does.

In Baghdad alone, residents have selected 88 advisory councils.

Baghdad's democratic transfer of power (1st in 35 years); city council
elected its new chairman.

Iraqi Chambers of commerce, businesses, schools and professional
organizations are electing their leaders all over the country.

25 ministers, selected by the most representative governing body in Iraq's
history, run the day-to-day business of government.

The Iraqi gov't regularly participates in international events.

Since July the Iraqi gov't has been represented in 24+ international
meetings, including UN General Assembly, the Arab League, the World Bank,
IMF and the Islamic Conference Summit.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it is reopening 30+ Iraqi
embassies worldwide.

Shia religious festivals (all but banned) are no longer illegal.

For the first time in 35 years, in Karbala, thousands of Shiites celebrate
the pilgrimage of the 12th Imam.

The Coalition has completed 13,000+ reconstruction projects, large and
small, as part of a strategic plan for the reconstruction of Iraq.

Uday and Queasy are dead, and no longer feeding Iraqis to the zoo lions,
raping the young daughters of local leaders to force cooperation, torturing
Iraq's soccer players for losing games, or murdering critics.

Children aren't imprisoned or murdered when their parents disagree with the
government.

Political opponents aren't imprisoned, tortured, executed, maimed, or
forced to watch their families die for disagreeing with Saddam.

Millions of long-suffering Iraqis no longer live in perpetual terror.

As a side effect, in neighboring countries, (1) Saudis will hold municipal
elections, (2) Qatar is reforming education to give more choices to
parents, (3) Jordan is accelerating market economic reforms,

The Nobel Peace Prize was awarded (first time) to an Iranian
(Muslim woman) who speaks out for human rights/democracy & peace.

Saddam is gone.

Iraq is free.

Little or none of this information has been published by the Press Corps
that prides itself on bringing you all the news that's important.

Iraq, under US lead control, has come further in six months than Germany
did in seven years or Japan did in nine years following WWII.

Military deaths from fanatic Nazi's and Japanese numbered in the thousands
and continued for over three years after WWII victory was declared. It took
the US over four months to clear away the twin tower debris, let alone
attempt to build something else in its place.

Now, take into account that many people in our government and media
continue to claim on a daily basis on national TV that this conflict has
been a failure. Taking everything into consideration, even the unfortunate
loss of our sons and daughters in this conflict, do you think any other
country in the world could have accomplished as much as the United States
and its coalition partners have in so short a period of time?

Karl Nielson LT, CHC, USNR 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) Chaplain

Thats a great point, they rarely report good things about the war. However, what you have to understand is that post-Vietnam journalism is EXTREMELY anti-war, with some American reports calling the Iraqi troops "freedom fighters." Some journalists even lied, claiming that the valiant Iraqis were repelling the American insurgance.

nice post airborne. It is refreshing to see some truthful reading instead of only seeing what the media allows

i agree it is very nice to have that info laid out, thanks. Many of us, myself included are very uninformed about what is really going on.

Are these really true?

Airborne first off no flame here bro but,,,,,they lie to us about everything, how do we know that what you pasted here is the TRUTH? Can anyone on here, thats been over there since the "war", confirm these items? I know there was a guy who posted in my thread that said he just got back, did you actually see any of these happening? I guess I am at the point where I don't believe anything I read anymore. What a life we live when we can't believe or trust anyone.

I just did a search on Iraq and found an Iraqi newspaper that backs some of the points in AB's post. So now my question is this: Wouldn't president Bush want these out in the public? Wouldn't it help his re-election chances?

i know of a couple peoples that have returned and have stated they have accompished alot and there is nothing told about it at all and that they resent that only negative stuff is reported on.

media=lies, it's funny that the real truth doesn't matter anymore just the twisted 'truth' we accept from watching the news everyday.
I forgot which thread it was but I think it was BobSmith who told me that CNN was biased so I took a look at a couple of different news channels for a while and it's so freakin true CNN, FOX, they all lean to one side or another.
IMO it's because those that really run this country 'know' we are easily controlled by television.

Traps,

I understand very much where you are coming from. Only reason I did post these certain accomplishments is because there is backing for it. My main point here is what most everyone is picking up on though....that we are only fed the negative aspects of what is going on in the world. And people like John Kerry thrive off of what the media presents to us...why?- because it makes out current president look worse and that our efforts overseas are going nowhere, hence, helping his chances at election. And yes, I would think that Bush would want these facts out and about and im not sure why they arent. I am sure they would help his reelection chances....couldnt tell you why he isnt making damn sure all of these good things are being reported.

Regardless of whether or not you agree with why we got into the war, we are in it....and our presence in Iraq will not be brief. They are handing over governmental control to the Iraqis on 30 June 04....but I would almost bet a nut that we will have troops there until 30 June 14. Democracy has never been a part of their culture and it is going to be atleast a decade until they will be able to grasp it- if they even do at all. What I am extremely tired of, is the constant bashing and criticism over the issue- especially from the liberal folk. We are there- period! Fuckin forget that we may have gotten there on shady intel. And our job now is to do the absolute best we can. This info I posted shows that our people arent dying for no reason. Kerry and others would have us believe that they are.

I heard a great explanation on the difference between conservatives and liberals. Conservatives live and work in the now and base their decisions mainly on lessons learned in the past and, for the most part, what they believe is most beneficial to our country. The liberal ideals are more based off of a eutopia that has never and will never exist in this world. This is very true....very seldomly have I seen different behavior from this political affiliation.

It is very true that we may live in a world that you cant believe what you hear/ready anymore, but in all honesty, if that is the truth, then fuck it- I would rather live happily under the illusion that our government is here to help us and is directing our forces in the right direction. Like I said before, someone has to be on top of the world. Since war is necessary to maintain peace, wouldnt you rather have us deployed somewhere taking part in a preemptive strike rather than sitting idly by while some other country rules?

Well said Airborne, if we would have sat idle in the 40's we would all be speaking German right now. I guess I don't know where I stand anymore on Iraq, which is why I try and not watch the news if at all possible.

Why won't Bush spread this "news"? Because most of is a a pack of lies, ahd he's been caught lying so many times that he knows he won't have any credibility left if he tries to spred more.

There's little truth in this list, and the "chaplain" who wrote it doesn't exist. It's another disinformation product created by U.S. security institutions to trap the gullible. They pour out plenty of these fake testimonials, then spread them via e-mail to make it appear as though they're legitimate.

The standard of living in Iraq has decayed since the U.S. invaded, not increased. Living conditions for the vast majority of Iraqis have deteroriated, not improved.

The U.S. invasion has not brought democracy to Iraq. The uprisings you see every day on t.v. with your own eyes are being fought by Iraqis who are demanding immediate elections.

Don't believe me? Think about this. Until now, the Bushites tried to convince Americans that the resistance was restricted to the Sunni minority in the centre of the country, and that the Shia majority was onside with the invasion because it was oppressed by Saddam. But today the uprisings have spread throughout the east and west of Iraq, lead by Shias. The number of U.S. troops being sent home in bodybags this week every day is into the dozens.

I know it's not politically correct to point this out, but don't get taken in any more by the lies. The Iraqis want the U.S. out now. The situation is getting worse every day. The chickens are coming home to roost.

Bush has no control over what the media prints. The media is completely liberal, pro democrat, pro hollywood etc. They hate republicans and bush. fucking movie fags like sean penn and tim robbins get more coverage than bush about politics. Unless it is something negative and than bush is front page

Greyowl, do you have any evidence to support that the list is bogus and that nothing good has come of our work in Iraq?

Greyowl, do you actually know what a lie is? It it a false statement made with the intent to deceive. You need two things to accuse someone of lying: 1) a false statement 2) intent to deceive. You look kind of foolish when you holler "liar, liar" and you don't have both.

For those of you who still think that the article which started this thread is authentic, and that is was written by a real navy chaplain, I invite you to follow the following link.

http://www.cpa-iraq.org/transcripts/20031009_Oct-09Bremerpresscon.htm

This link will lead you to a speech made by Paul Bremer, Bush's bumboy in Iraq, back in October. As you will see, the "chaplain's" article is actually a rewrite of Bremmer's speech, which right-wing nutbars are now spreading through forums such as this in a desperate attempt to persuade Americans to deny what they are seeing from Iraq with their own eyes.

Rightwingers are notorious for their lack of historic understanding. The lessons of Viet Nam are blocked out and consistently ignored. Refusal to see the catastrophe of Bush's Middle East foreign policy is the fatal legacy of this era of unrestrained intervention in other countries' affairs

Today's deaths in Iraqi towns like Fallujah and Ramadi are symptomatic of a terminal disease. Contractors alter into security guards and mutate into mercenaries. Retribution to avenge the murders of four private enforcement employees will be conducted by regular troops. No wonder ambassadors will need to contract with Blackwater Security for additional services. U.S. marines are on notice that the private body guards get preference.

So whos work is being done in Iraq? The myth of coalition acceptance hung from a bridge across the Euphrates. The chant - 'Fallujah will be a cemetary for Americans' - should read "the entire Middle East is the burial ground of American foreign policy". Will it take another Tet Offensive to wake up the public? The only way to learn from past mistakes is not to commit them over and over again.

Only a Mongoloid idiot would still claim that the coalition for conquest is protecting the homes of Americans. No WMD found, doesnt seem to trouble the NeoCons, because that was never the purpose for pre-emptive invasion. Bremer serves masters that talk benevolence while imposing an interim constitution, written to transform Mesopotamia into a "GI friendly" Saigon, but will result in an Islamic Ho Chi Minh City.

As long as the fiction of self defense or liberation supplants the truth that Iraq was conquered for NeoCon objectives, the price of deception will be extracted from misguided Americans. The betrayal of the soul of America is the toll paid for the lust of power. The face of America has a bulls-eye that resembles all the Bremers that serve at the pleasure of the hard right.

Are you insane? He has more controll over the media than anyone in this country.
I know Im gonna get blasted for this, but you sheep fail to see it.
The Jews own CNN AND FOX and they want everyone to see the bad side of the Arab world, THAT is why you see what you see. Oh, yeah.. also because THATS WHATS HAPPENING IN THE MIDDLE EAST RIGHT NOW.

Rod, greyowl is more intune with whats happening in current events than you and I put together. Id bet my money on what he has to say is closer to the truth than anything I hear on the news.

Have we all forgotten how the law enforcement and media collaborate when they bust a steroid user and make it seem like he is a big time dealer? Oh but that is different than what is happening in Iraq, right?

THEY DONT WANT US THERE!!!!!

1) Yes, you and every Republican on the planet would love for the sheep to do this.

2&3) Got proof or are you talking out your ass?

4) UHHHHH THAT SOUNDS LIKE NUMBER 2 TO ME!!!

Actually I am far from a sheeple. I keep forgetting that you believe what hollywood, actors, and politicians (such as Arnold) stand for. They are all liars and no Bush DOES NOT have control over the media. Get a clue. The media go out of their way to bash bush. The media are democrats and they follow democratic lines with their biased journalism.

I agree with how LE and Media blow shit up. Totally different than what is occuring in Iraq. We really are trying to help a bunch of stupid worthless fucks that dont want helped is what it boils down to in my opinion. So i go back to statements of too bad we cant get out and let them sort themselves out. Fuck always siding with Israel and Fuck talking Israel out of going to war.
I dont bad mouth our troops for being there and all you liberal bitches downplay the fact that honest, hardworking people are dying for their country. You guys would rather picket at a college. If we were attacked you sorry fucks would be the same ones running to canada with a new flag in your arm. Than you can join protest lines about whatever is popular there. It is always the same people protesting about everything. Pathetic
