What R U Eating ? ~OGH wants to know.....

I just read a couple of studies that compared low carb to low fat diets. Both groups lost weight at the same rate as long as total calories were the same. Anyone have their own opinion or experiences they'd like to share?

I think it's somewhat unique to the individual as with anything. All of our gut biomes and bodies are physiologically different. However I believe fats play a much more important anabolic and general health role than carbs. I wouldn't go low fat as a personal choice.

It's not just a couple studies, it's all of them.

With that said, there is a place for carb cycling and such... But not many need to go this route.

You know every cut I do is typified by 3-4 days of rapid improvement in physique appearance, then my muscles flatten out a lot more and it feels like everything goes to shit. Cyclical dieting sounds like the way to go for me.

What are your thoughts on all of the keto disciples?

I think there are definitely some benefits to it if it's a diet that fits your goals, lifestyle and eating habits.

For me, I feel best with moderate carbs and fats when I'm trying to lose weight. Some feel better with really high fats in ketosis. I don't like feeling weak, and keto makes me feel that way. I don't like depriving myself of foods I like... Such as coffee with some sugar, fruit, cereal, etc. I can eat all of those things and still drop weight the same as someone doing keto.

If I had certain health issues like arthritis, epilepsy, certain forms of cancer I would absolutely go keto. That was how keto was originally used, for medical reasons, back in ancient Greece. It mimics fasting, which has many health benefits... Unfortunately for me, being a fat kid lol.

Did you know there was a study years back where they gave individuals on keto diet exogenous insulin? About 20iu I think, which is basically universally fatal with no carbs in non diabetics. Nothing happened to them... They all survived and their BG barely budged.

I didn't know that, thanks for sharing. I've cut about 14 lbs. the past couple of months and I haven't tried to go low carb at all. I've eaten a ton of rice and still losing weight. I'm thinking like you, why give up all that good food when there is another method?

Currently adding some offseason size; you don’t need photos of my meals to get it lol. 7oz meat and ~100g of various carbs 6 times a day. With a shake and some fast cards post workout.

The protein is probably overkill. But I needed a change. For those wondering, no adverse affect on my blood panels from the protein.

I do think that reduction of carbs in some instances can be postive if you want to improve body composition.

Improving insulin sensitivity has been one of the biggest contributors to improving my body composition. Now, I didn't necessarily achieve that via keto dieting, but you can... I did it by using certain drugs and altering carb intake up and down.

I'm just scratching the surface of clean eating and my quest for nice abs. A lot of this is still over my head but it doesn't take long to see the value in it when you start to eat clean.

Sweet tarts are pure dextrose. Those mamba fruit chew things too, vast majority dextrose. Just thought I’d throw that out there.
