Mmmmm!

Okay guys, as some of you know I have been playing around with sous vide cooking, here are some results...

Here's the setup, w/ the two ribeyes

Ribeyes in the vacuum bag, sitting in 130f water for 1 hour

Ribeyes after 1 hour, they looked pretty gross. They had almost a gelatinous feel too them, very hard to move as they wanted to fall apart, smelled pretty good though.

Meeting the torch.... I patted them dry, you will notice how much glossy fat is all over the steaks. I think ribeyes aren't the perfect choice for sous vide, they almost cook confit (in their own fat).

The result... I fanned it out and added some flake salt and pepper. The mistake I made was significantly underestimating how much the torch would continue to cook the steak...

Heck yeah

So, with the lessons learned I attempted a flank steak next.

In the bag I added garlic, soy, Dijon mustard, some pepper, sriracha, honey and a bit of MSG. Cooked for 8 hours, finished with a glaze of honey and soy. This was a 9.9 out of 10 for flavor and texture, it was truly mind blowing.

That's all the marinade you used? I WILL try this. Im on a marinade mission. And you sir have just stole my heart:oops:

I frequently use fat free italian dressing as a marinade. Works good on chicken but my favorite on vension. Marinade a backstrap overnight with Italian, fresh garlic, splash of red wine. Wrap it up in foil and throw it on the grill, gotta be rare, pink center and slice into medallions. Or just pour it over some ground in a skillet and brown it, serve over brown rice with brussels/broc...shit what time is it??

That sounds really good bro. I'll make sure to try it soon. Makes me hungry just thinking about it

Went to chipotle earlier and ordered a barbacoa burrito and the chick scraped at the bottom of the bin for it. Came out with a bunch of small, drenched pieces and before I paid tilted it into the garbage to drain it. I said "you know what, never mind. I don't care for soggy burritos". Maybe I saved myself from a bit of ecoli but my tummy was very unhappy with my choice.

Can't just take the easy way out man. You make it then snap a picture then post it. Nobody wants to see a Google Image of a meal. Cmon carolina...

I started it..I googled a picture of an eye opener as soon as the thought crossed my mine ;)
