The cost of doing one is ridiculous! I think for just that weekend alone I spent nearly $700 just on hotel and every fees alone!

No hate, I respect the athletes. The cash grabbing organization, not so much.
All you need to do is pay for one event to have your NPC card, shit I could do it...

I don't know man. I smell like a dead rotting animal when I drink pasteurized egg whites without cooking them. At first it's just gas but eventually it starts to emit from my skin. I've seen it happen with a few buddies also.

You don't even need to do an event. Just go to the NPC's website and sign up. Anyone can be a NPC athlete.
They have a monopoly since the NPC is the only route into the IFBB. Be glad you're not a female competitor. Lots of horror stories on the shit they put up with to even get a look their way on stage.

Don't even get me started. I don't compete but know many , male and female that do. Women's physique sports are a joke on the local level. It's prevented my girlfriend from having the desire to compete. My ex is about to get her first taste of the bias in a few weeks.
Her trainer is pretty well plugged into the local scene, so it may play out for her.

That's nuts. I really did check the NPC site, $125 makes you a NPC athlete. I really thought it meant something. If I can be one, doesn't mean much.
