Worf's 1st meet log

Shit my back is a mess after those pulls. Had the wife do the massage hammer gun and the fascia blaster. I hung on the inversion table. Took ibuprofen last night and this morning. Looking forward to a volume block after this meet, lol

Does all that stuff help? I mean I know ibuprofen does, but the other stuff.
My low back pain is mostly disk related. The only thing that really helps out with that is the inversion table, chiropractor and reverse hyper. The chiro being the best. The inversion table really doesn’t shine unless I hang on it for more than 3-5 min and by that time I’m ready to pass out.
On a positive note I don’t feel any adductor pain from sumo this time. Been doing a lot of band work the past 6 weeks to strengthen the adductors and I think it finally paying off. I also turned my toes in a bit, may be a coincidence but it’s getting into superstition time for me at 5 weeks out.

I get superstitious too. Down to counting number of breaths and wearing certain shirts for certain lifts lol.

Keep working towards perfecting your setup on sumo.

Semi-related. There's this guy at the local gym who'se superstitious with pretty much anything. The worst though is he only washes his "lifting socks" once every 2 weeks. He wears them for EVERY SINGLE WORKOUT and he's seemingly always there.

I mean of all the things to get superstitious about - not washing your socks lolol. He refers to them as his "LL" Socks (Lucky Lifting Socks). Talks about them often. Apparently the one day his wife tossed out his other pairs (had multiple pairs of the same) he had because they were "old" and he refused to get rid of them. He had no idea until the morning of, and only had the pair he wore the day before left. So he pulled them out of the laundry bin and re-wore them. He swears he's never stalled on his lifts since. Every second week on his 2 off days (he lifts Sat-Weds) he washes them then "wears them in" for those 2 days until he's finally back to his re-sock-wearing-lifting routine for another 2 weeks.

All you can smell is feet when he's near you. It's funny when new people don't know and are around him and just walking by him you can hear him explaining the same story to them. Gross but hilarious.

There are a lot of weirdos at that gym but we often go there just because it's the closest. Good times.

Dude that’s fucking terrible. I thought the guy that doesn’t wash his knee sleeves at my gym was bad. That’s another fucking level

Not leaving them in your gym bag helps a lot. Bring them home and stand them up somewhere to dry. I will put mine in the washer if they get funky though. Instructions say don't, but I never had any issues from it.

I know, and yea it's horrible. That's what makes it so funny but also not so funny. When he's explaining it to new people we can't help but laugh because no one in their right minds think it's normal and you can see it all over their faces but they're trying to be polite. It's hilarious. There are a lot of interesting characters at some of the gyms around that we've been to over the last few years.

This was kind of a fatigue management workout. Pretty beat up from this past week of train. 2 PR’s and very near one on bench volume earlier in the week. Wanted to get some stuff in but not run myself in the ground. Planning some heavy squats Sunday, should be gtg by then

Let a guy at the gym borrow my Slingshot wraps , of course I haven’t seen him since. so I ordered some 3m ELITEFTS Patriots. Will be giving them a go on Sunday. Played with them at the house. They feel pretty solid, very similar to the Kraits but not so hard. I also ordered some Pioneer wrist and knee wraps, both the Guardian aka black mambas. Should give me some options going into the meet. I do like the blue slingshots for rep work/training but I’ll probably need something a bit heavier for max singles.
fixin to be a gear whore over here

I was scared to do that at first, but after my wife threw my elbow / knee sleeves in, they actually fit better for a while lol.

Lol same.

Now I'm paranoid about loaning my gear out.

A friend just jacked my wrist wraps.

I dint know why anyone would want to wear someones dirty old gym gear anyways lol?
My hands get pretty sweaty and drip down into the wraps.
I dont actually wash them and I've ruined a pair in the washer,
I just soak them in water with a little vinegar every once in a while

When I was helping a friend of mine in his warehouse years ago as a side thing, guys used to share their work gloves and I could never understand it.

They had new gloves provided and everyone had probably 4-5 pairs to their name. You could grab a new pair from the other side of the warehouse too but nope, instead of walking to grab new ones, they'd rather use the next guys gloves after their shift and they're all sweaty and nasty inside. A lot of people just tossed their gloves onto whatever skid that was sitting on the side at the end of their shift and without a doubt they'd be picked up by someone else just punching in.

I really don't get it

Finally got my blue Slingshot wraps back but picked up some Titan signature golds yesterday in 2.5m, used them with some success. They are definitely more stiff than the blue slingers but not as stiff as the elite FTS Kraits. Have to do a review on them in the future. Much more inclined to use these at my meet over the blue slingshot wraps. I’ve got another pair of wraps on the way from Pioneer and I’ll have to give those and the ELITE FTS Patriots a try before the meet and make my decision. Friend at the gym has been trying to talk me into the Inzer Grippers but I hear such mixed reviews with them. I’ve bought so many wraps the past month I’ll probably save them for some time in the future.

Following this train of thought intently.

I've NEVER used wraps.
My hands just dont ever give out.
(Life long tradesman and lifter)

But as my numbers go up, I'm finding my forearms are gassed kn my last few sets.

Especially since I've added ALOT more volume to my DL training.

Recommendations for good wraps for me?
(Double overhand grip)
