Working out on an empty stomach

Just wondering how many of yall hit your workout first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. I don't to this frequently but I feel like a lot of the time after eating I just get so sleepy and have to rely on some type of stimulant. If I go on an empty stomach I feel that I have more initial energy but the strength and endurance tends to drop for that session. What do yall think? Pros and Cons?

I do my AM workout at 5 unless I am on a 2 a day rotation and I personally dig working out fasted. Not sure if it is all placebo effect, but I would swear I am at my best in this dynamic.

Plus that first swig of my AM protein shake tastes like nectar of the gods when I am all wrecked from the workout minus breakfast. Highlight of my mornings.

I feel like it’s that natural energy from a good nights sleep! maybe i should start drinking a protein shake beforehand instead of raw dogging it haha

I wake up, get dressed, drink preworkout mix of one scoop non stim one scoop stim with 200mg caffeine on the way to the gym and have an intra workout drink 40g carbs 20g eaa 2g salt while I train. No difference in strength or endurance vs training after eating for me

I have done this almost 2 decades now. Early am fasted workouts after pinning the GH an hour prior. I don’t know how people train with food in their gullets.

But I intermittently fast too. So most days it’s 4 to 10 hours after my fasted workout before I eat anything. I’m not worried about adding mass though and haven’t been for several years.

Im sure 99.9% of the people on here workout for aesthetic purposes only and if that’s your situation as well or you’re needing to make weight for sport then fasted workouts are fine but I can’t think of anything worse for performance purposes than training on an empty stomach. Even though some dum dum on another thread suggested doing static stretches pre-workout as opposed to a dynamic warmup.
Might oughta change harm reduction to performance hindering forum

agreed, I'm no power lifter but I do prefer to workout after a full day of eating. Tends to keep the headaches away when I workout. (I generally drink a lot of water). I'm not big on pre workout stretches but always stretch midway or after my workout. I do however like to run 10 min or hangout in the sauna for 3-5 min before my workout, I feel that it gets me warmed up nicely.

I usually have a small protein-rich mixed meal preworkout. It seems like a missed opportunity for MPS to go into a resistance training session in the fasted state.

I rarely eat anything before I go in the morning. Hasn’t ever affected my energy, possibly because I intake caffeine and some armo before I go. If I do eat anything it is a big ass high carb muffin or something similar. Down side is later throughout the day starving my ass off. I run service calls at 11 calls per day and rarely have time to stop, which results in me eating everything possible when I get home.

A little meal prepping can go a long way. It's part of the path we've chosen.
100 percent. I am so bad about doing something like meal prepping for the week for a period of time, then getting tired of doing it and it become a nonexistent part of my routine. You ever tried any of the subscriptions for meal prep? I used to just fix 2 different dishes and portion out for 4 days of the same meal. Probably why I got tired of it. If one of the companies like Huel or something similar were good, I’d subscribe.
