WSMWANNABE's path to (not) becoming a pro strongman

30 Aug 21 BW: 232

1) box jumps
4x2 to 40"

I had a pretty funny fail on box jumps. I got one foot on top but missed the second one and completely ate shit. I wish I could post the video.

2a) incline BB bench press
275x4 (RPE 6)
235x3x4 paused on chest

2b) banded pull aparts
4x20

3) swiss bar floor press
275x6 (RPE 6)
225x3x6 controlled eccentric and paused at the bottom

4) neutral grip rows
4x8 @ 180

5) banded tricep push downs
3x50

6) dead bug
3x12

I felt GREAT yesterday, especially considering I hit a heavy double on deads the day prior. I think my cycle is really starting to kick in.

1 Sep 21 BW: 231.4 (229.8 this morning)

2 months ago you couldn't have convinced me I would be able to drop 18-19 lbs without losing a ton of strength, nevermind getting stronger.

1) banded axle push press from rack
10x2 @ 165 -> 205, 30s rest between sets

2) banded snow angels
3x15

3) yoke run
3x180' @ 400 lbs (180' runs can suck it. I also hit the fan again... so fuck that fan)

4) SSB hatfields
top set 600x4 (RPE 7)

5) T bar row
4x6 @ 90

6) BSS with front foot on foam pad
3x10 each leg

7) weighted side plank
3x20s/side, 25# plate

3 Sep 21 BW: 230 (229.2 this morning)

1a) log clean and press
265x1
290x miss
285x miss
235x3x2

I was supposed to hit an RPE 9 double today. 265 shot up off my chest, so I thought for sure that I had 290 today. It wasn't meant to be. I'm not too upset about missing it though because this is one of the first times I didn't feel like I was being crushed under the weight, and my technique was very sound. I missed the lift because I have weak delts, and getting stronger has never been an issue for me, but technique has been my crux for a long time.

1b) banded snow angels
3x15

2) bamboo bar strict press
3x10

3) meadows rows
4x6 each arm @ 90 lbs

5 Sep 21 BW: 230.6

1) depth jump from 12" box
4x2

2) Wheel barrow deadlift
10x2 @ 485 w/30s rest between sets (this was surprisingly easy)

3) Wheel Barrow carry
610X60' in 20s (last time I tried this weight I made is about 20')
475x60'

4) sandbag toss
40/50 x 4

5) sandbag front squat
3x8 @ 175

6) prone banded hamstring curls

6 Sep 21 BW: 230.4

After failing 290 on log and realizing I failed it because I am too weak to hit it, not because of poor technique, I asked my coach to throw in a lift I used to build a 265 lb strict press on a swiss bar last September. I only have 5 more weeks to build the biggest log press I can. I kept failing right around forehead height which tells me my front delts are too weak.

1) swiss bar 1/4+1 press
175x6 (RPE 7, this isn't as high as it should be, but it is a good starting place for a lift I haven't hit for almost a year)
165x6
145x2x6

2a) high incline barbell bench press (45 degree bench)
265x5 (RPE 8)
245x5
225x5
215x5

2b) banded pull apart
4x20

3) neutral grip T bar row
4x8 @ 90 (lats were FRIED from Sunday's workout so I dropped the weight way down and increased the tempo)

4) banded tricep pushdown
3x50

5) deadbug
3x12

I am going to guess you probably feel better, too.
I feel a lot better at 230 than 265, but I don't feel too much different at 230 than I did at 248. Don't get me wrong, it feels good to look good, but I didn't feel fat and unhealthy at 248, although I am certainly faster at 230, but I think I may have been slightly stronger at 248. More than anything it is less embarrassing to be me.

I want to get back up to that weight, but obviously I want to add lean mass to get back to that weight. I don't want to be fat again.

EDIT: my BP and RHR are the same at 248 and 230. I think the single biggest benefit for me is that I can walk into my competition without the added stress of a water cut. I plan to be right at comp weight.

8 Sep 21 BW: 231

1) banded axle push press from rack
8x2 @ 180 -> 220, 30s rest between sets

2) banded snow angels
3x15

3) yoke run
605 for 60' in 14s (this is fast for me)
675 for 60' in 44s (also fast for me, this is the second heaviest yoke I have ever run. At my last comp I hit 700 for 100' in 42s)

4) SB toss
35/40/45/45 x 3
My trajectory was off last night. I think I threw all the bags to comp height (15.5') but they wouldn't have all made it over due to poor trajectory

5) T bar row
4x8 @ 135

6) bulgarian split squats
3x10 each leg, front foot on foam pad

I have a good friend who competes in the Heavy weights in regionals and during the final 3 weeks he runs 500mg Tren Ace ED and 500mg ADrol ED!!! Lol

No test?

What does he run prior to the final three weeks, or "off season," if that term applies?
Yeah thats with 4 grams of Test. Not sure what he runs before he really hammers it, it will still be a heavy cycle though. The guy is huge though around 140kg.

4 grams of test per week?? 500 mg tren and 500 mg anadrol per day?! That seems like a fast track to the cardiac unit of the ICU

Even if it is only for 3 weeks though

that’s wild, 140kg is a big man, but still probably “middle of the pack” as far as weight is concerned. And that’s a fuck load of gear by pretty much any metric
