I completely understand the business model. This sport lives of representation. And if they think someone is not suited to represent their organization and another guy who is suited and is very close to the other one, they will vote for him. Who wouldn't do that.
I completely understand the business model.
Not sure I entirely agree with it, though. It is what it is![]()
I think he is squeezing the shit out of that ghetto story. I mean he must earn at least a million per year and yet he still plays the ghetto underdog..Kai always seems to be the fan favorite and his story is really inspiring. I feel like Kai would be the better ambassador for the sport because he's so humble and caring, but I guess that's not what they're looking for as an organization. We all make mistakes and choices. The grapefruit is a horrible mark on him, but that's how he made money to pursue bodybuilding. He deserves a Sandow before his career is over. Kai is king in my book.

He's gotten a lot of his fans through it though so it clearly worked.
He had a hard start but I don't think any of the top bodybuilders got their shit handed to them. They all worked hard for their money they needed, some having two/ three jobs to support themselves. And that is what I don't like about Kai. He never had a real job.
Every pro works hard for where they are no doubt. Justin Compton was working 12 hour days all the way up to nationals. Phil Heath was working 2 jobs I believe throughout his amateur career. I think Phil even called Kai out on not knowing what a real job was in Generation Iron. Kai was different in the sense because he was an orphan with not much hope. He never had a real job, but he made the money he needed to make. He did a lot of things that most people wouldn't dare do to pursue his dream. Now those things are catching up to him in his career. Honestly, Kai probably didn't have the guidance or resources to pursue a real job. He did in his mind what needed to be done to get him to where he wanted to be. For that, I give him a lot of credit.
