kai at 20 weeks out

And he doesn't fit the "image" really. His physique is the best, imo. But, he doesn't have all the charm they look for too. I don't think the judges base their decisions entirely on the physiques in front of them, how could they?

This sport lives of representation. And if they think someone is not suited to represent their organization and another guy who is suited and is very close to the other one, they will vote for him. Who wouldn't do that.

I completely understand the business model.

Not sure I entirely agree with it, though. It is what it is :)

Kai always seems to be the fan favorite and his story is really inspiring. I feel like Kai would be the better ambassador for the sport because he's so humble and caring, but I guess that's not what they're looking for as an organization. We all make mistakes and choices. The grapefruit is a horrible mark on him, but that's how he made money to pursue bodybuilding. He deserves a Sandow before his career is over. Kai is king in my book.

I think he is squeezing the shit out of that ghetto story. I mean he must earn at least a million per year and yet he still plays the ghetto underdog..
He's gotten a lot of his fans through it though so it clearly worked.

The man literally came from nothing and turned his dream into a reality. Hard work, dedication, and a drive like none other. That's what Kai Greene stands for as a person and that's why he has generated the following that he has. It's inspiring and that's why he still talks about where he began.

He had a hard start but I don't think any of the top bodybuilders got their shit handed to them. They all worked hard for their money they needed, some having two/ three jobs to support themselves. And that is what I don't like about Kai. He never had a real job.

Every pro works hard for where they are no doubt. Justin Compton was working 12 hour days all the way up to nationals. Phil Heath was working 2 jobs I believe throughout his amateur career. I think Phil even called Kai out on not knowing what a real job was in Generation Iron. Kai was different in the sense because he was an orphan with not much hope. He never had a real job, but he made the money he needed to make. He did a lot of things that most people wouldn't dare do to pursue his dream. Now those things are catching up to him in his career. Honestly, Kai probably didn't have the guidance or resources to pursue a real job. He did in his mind what needed to be done to get him to where he wanted to be. For that, I give him a lot of credit.

Yes he did what other people wouldn't and that was sponging on social security for a hell of a long time even after he got sponsored. Bc sponsorships are not real income he still was getting that. And then doing things like "the orange" to make money he needed instead of a job. I think that costs him now. And will in the future.

Much respect for Kai to make the best of what he had though...even doing something gritty. Shame that he will never get to live that down and go on to win an O in his lifetime.

Wow looking really lean for 20 weeks out. I guess he learned last year that it comes down to conditioning, and by the looks of it he is ready to come in absolutely peeled. If he improves his conditioning, traps, forearms, and stomach, he will crush Phil.
