i REALLY dislike branch, i hate to judge someone i don't know personally and this is purely my ego talking but the dude came across as such a fuckwit on generation iron. Maybe it was the way they edited his footage but this moment truly had me in tears of happiness and laughter

i know the dude is a beast, absolutely huge but he's the opposite of aesthetic to me. i haven't seen any other footage of him apart from in that doco so i might be off but something about him really pissed me off

After watching it I didnt like him either. I dont like his personality either, seems dumber than a box of rocks and a complete asshole. But like you said, could have been how they edited the footage.

He is a little rough around the edges but he is the epitomy of a no bullshit guy!! He runs a very successful business and I can appreciate the fact he is an avid hunter who eats his own supply of meat instead of doing it the easy way all the time and running to the store. There are qualities he has that I think are admirable, but as far as personality goes and giving back to the sport, not quite sure on that one

I've never been a huge fan of Branch. I don't know if they staged some of the things he did and said in Generation Iron, but if that is how he conducts himself on a daily basis, I wouldn't personally like him. I wonder if him falling of the horse was provoked to add drama to the movie? I also thought it was absolutely hilarious when he said all of his injuries were caused by things out of the gym. Apparently he tore his quad because he fell in the parking lot? That seems suspect to me, especially if any of you guys have seen his training style. Take this video for example. He does have a great physique. I haven't met him, so who am I to judge?

i actually think they woulda edited the footage to make him seem like a cunt so it made his falling off the horse more entertaining. I think the way people are portrayed in the media is usually not the case or a much more amplified version of who they actually are..

watching him in this video he seems a lot more grounded

in generation iron he seemed to be bitter.. like he had a chip on his shoulder, but also like he was over compensating a lot as a defence mechanism for some hectic insecurities. he had his guard up, but i guess thats how they edited it.

when i think about it I'm sure a lot of them are playing a role as well, i've seen an interview where arnold said in "pumping iron" they were told they needed to add drama, and he totally played up the role of being the villain.. he lied about how his father died and he didn't even go to the funeral etc.. i wouldn't be surprised if thats the case in generation iron too.

Makes sense. They had to make the movie interesting somehow. Every bodybuilder was portrayed as a character of their own life to the extreme. Take Phil and Kai for example. Phil came off as the super arrogant, big money, Olympia king, while they portrayed Kai as the more humble runner up who didn't live the extravagant lifestyle. I guess its all for the sake of the story they tried to create, but I guess it really doesn't accurately depict their life or personality.

Thats cool he harvests his own meat, that gives him +1 for being a badass

Got to meet him at the Arnold.
Not exactly a people person.
But as far as his way of training goes. I love it. Id much rather train like him. Then B-Pak

You would get better results training the way b-pak does than branch. All momentum and half reps. He's all genetics and drugs.

Lots of people on bb.com hate him, I personally have no beef with him. I think Phil Heath has a much more offputting personality, "you can train hard but you can never be that gifted" or whatever he told Kai Greene, lol.

Phil Heath, to me, is the biggest scumbag at the pro level.

I respect Branch, he seems to fucking work his ass off, even if he's not doing it very intelligently. Bpak sort of jabs him in GI for this.

Bpak is probably the only pro I have ever heard speak, who I believe wouldn't need a coach to be where he is today.

i reckon if phil humbled himself people would love him so much more, but its like he's taken on this role and is just refusing to look back now.. i kinda like him, he's a cocky cunt but he's entertaining. everyone thinks he's gonna be finished soon though, i think this years mr. o will be interesting, if phil wins i think he's gonna stay for a while, if he loses its gonna snap him down to earth

Ramy will crush him IMHO.

If Ramy can bring a crisp and dry conditioning, he will be hard to beat. He also has some momentum coming off his recent win in Brazil. Going to be a great battle with a lot of great competitors this year at the Olympia. Looking forward to it.
