To the inconsolable child haunting Meso

One day, in retrospect, the years of struggle will strike you as the most beautiful.

This is a Sigmund Freud quote. Many of his ideas and theories had been rooted in his own mental health issues, imo. Quite a few of his works of literature stand out and can't be denied as ground breaking, for the time, despite his own demons. No matter what you think of the man, his mind wasn't something to waste, and it wasn't.

This quote in particular strikes me as very poetic in that a human being can live through some amazingly horrendous conditions and come out of their struggle essentially untouchable. Mentally forged into hardened steel, able to deal with anything and everything.

As I look back at the path I have traveled I realize that most of it was hard. Most of it was tumultuous and I had to fight my way to get where I was going. Nowadays, I have a solid spine, round shoulder ready to take the weight of someone's world when needed. I am available to anyone and in any capacity that I can help with. This is because of the years of struggle and now I can do beautiful things with the strength that the struggle made me develop.

My advice to you, child(ren) haunting Meso, is to learn how to be a man. Learn how to be a beacon of strength, a guiding light. One day you will wake up and be in your 40s and you'll realize that you have missed the boat. Now you're just a Freudian cliche. Change before it is too late.
Can i copy this and post it elsewhere...
It is an awe inspiring commentary on life.
Well said my friend!

Yeah dude, feel free. I'm glad you got something good out of it :)
What i got out of it was the confirmation that how i think about things is consistent with a correct world view.
Sharing this with younger guys will hopefull enlighten some to look inward at how they currently see things and adjust their own view to a more productive perspective.
You stated it in a way that i probably couldn't.

I would love for the knuckleheads that are spamming the board to pick something up from that post. The wealth of knowledge that are letting pass them by when they act like that is insane. If I had a group of guys like we have on Meso around when I was younger I might have had a better run at life, not that I'm complaining.

Good people and supportive people are in need these days. I was hoping being something other than a total cunt to them might help. Time will tell.

What I don't get is how a person gets to the point of the "member" you speak of. It really just blows my mind that someone can be shown 100 times that he is in the wrong but turn said proof around and actually use it as his proof? Mind boggling to say the least. Am I the crazy one:oops:

You're not crazy dude. Can't help them all.

I remember an episode of shark tank where the guy had an offer from every shark and he ended up without a deal. His mouth did him in, he couldn't keep it shut.

I can be a nice guy but some people do bring out the mean cunt in me.

Use the anger wisely. If you lay down with dogs you will get fleas. I'm a hypocrite myself, it's hard to not respond sometimes.
I do admit I let my Irish anger get the best of me sometimes :(

Certainly I never express my anger in a workplace or at social events.
