Fluoroquinolone

A little bit...it's not like an insatiable urge or anything. Just get a little hungry. Munchies are way worse. If anything my LBM increased.

So, fucking long story short, my gawddam Achilles Tendons r fukn acting up again and now I'm starting to develop gawddam bumps behind where they rupture! I'm almost positive its directly due to the achilles tendon itself causing it because the bump, lump, or whatever the fuk u wana cal it is more prominent on my right achilles tendon, which is the one that has given me the most problems from the get go! :(

Cubbie, you know more about this shit, so is this a defense mechanism that makes them stronger, or is it something in a more negative sense, like excessive inflammation, or perhaps something else?

Where are the bumps exactly? It is probably an inflammatory response. It sounds like you are experiencing the kind of reaction I had man, but localized to the achilles. That reaction is:
Mild issue --> fades away --> bad reaction :(

If I were you, I would stay off your feet as much as possible until you can get yourself into a good orthopedist. What you need to do is find one who has dealt with this before. If so, he will probably do an MRI of your achilles to determine damage. He will then probably put you into some sort of boot(s) to protect the achilles and give you crutches. If you do this you may be able to prevent a rupture.

If you don't... you are probably rolling the dice. I have never had lumps like you describe.

Could be scar tissue. Don't know the whole story or when and how the problem appeared but kinda sounds like a slight rupture that formed scar tissue.

ONY, how are you doing?

I am in another trough that started up on Sunday/Monday. Thurs felt great, Fri felt good Sat felt good, worked out for 2-3 hours, Sun felt crummy, yesterday felt bad, today feel OK.

Oddly enough the snapping/cracking is really down but the inflammation seems to be up.

I'm doing well. What I have or at least think or "thought" I have in relation to the lump/bump/nodule is explained below by Dr. Ian Sadler, a sports podiatrist. I don't actually know if I do have this though as it might be a callus considering that I can actually pinch the skin that is the bump, so I'm thinking its just skin that has been rubbed with friction causing a callus type bump, at least that's what I'm hoping! ;)

As for the tendons themselves, yesterday I said fuk it and I decided to run a 10minute mile on the treadmill, then walk for an hour @ around 4mph afterwards. I ran in choppy steps instead of running on my toes as I was nervous that springing off my toes and falling back down on them repetivitely w/ bodyweight might cause a rupture more so than usually the choppy steps I did. I got thru it and actually after that my achilles felt great! Really loose and flexible! :) The last 30minutes or so they started not necessarily aching, but not feeling as good as they were during the first 30minute walk. I really think I'm starting to get over the hump again, but hopefully good for this time. I'm going to workout calves this Friday and if that feels good, I will probably consider myself back to normal, aside from the occasional pain/twinges I get, as I really don't think I'm will develop a rupture.

Yesterday was able to do a full workout without any pain or stiffness. Included squats and deadlifts. THe deadlifts actually seemed ot have really helped my back pain.

I am now more than ever convinced that deadlifts can cure anything. :)

Bad thing is that I am getting a cold...and right before vacation. Damnit.

Good Call! I wouldn't have taken them either for various reasons!

Stopping them today as I saw cvictor and his lovely wife. She was telling me of how it resulted in a few torn muscles she experienced..I was lifting and something did not feel right last night and luckily i listened ....

Thanks cubbie
Girl's at office notified me that they recieved letter about it being on the FDA warning list a few weeks ago..

Smart decision. Hopefully you suffer no further consequences.

Yeah deadlifts are very good.

I hadn't read this thread at all. Really suprised at this. I have taken a lot of antibiotics over the years, but not sure of the type.

Have been up and down (as usual).

For some reason I am developing some sort of foot pain near a spot I had surgery on a few years ago (tailors bunions). It almost feels like my feet are a little swollen. Which is possible because I was doing a lot of barefoot walking around, which I usually don't do. Back is up and down, but mostly OK. Knees are almost 100%. Elbows are almost 100%. Neck is pretty much 100%. Hands and wrists have been bothering me lightly a little bit recently. Again, not sure why. The popping and cracking seems to be down again.

At this point I am 100% functional and able to do everything I was able to do prior to being floxed, I just suffer afterwords/during. I kind of feel like I am around 60 years old.

My insomnia has also decided to come back a little bit over the past week. Randomly it popped up 3 nights ago and last night I had to take a klonopin because I kept jerking awake.

If I didn't know what this was I would be freaking out that I have MS. What's really odd about this is that my anxiety has been almost non-existent since this started. Even after drinking a lot (which usually triggers a large anxiety attack) I've just been tired. I wonder if the reality of this situation kind of made me re-evaluate what anxiety really is.

I have a feeling that I am always going to have to live with some lingering side effects of this to some extent...or that it will take a year or more to completely feel how I did before.

Had a good, active weekend. Not a hell of a lot of pain either. The tendon snapping still bugs the shit out of me.

Still using GHRPs and a boatload of supplements. Still using curcumin...still think it is a great pain reliever. Trying kind of a weird amino acid supplement regimen using lysine, proline, and vitamin c. Not expecting much, but if I stop trying new stuff I get bored. :)

I have been using that laser for the tendonitis but the laser is so small it is a bitch to use. Especially since you are supposed to use it for 15 minutes at a time. I can't tell yet if it is helpful or not.

Quick status update:
Neck: 100%
Shoulders: 85%? They are OK except when I bench press/push up, etc. a lot. They will get sore for a day or two and then be OK again.
Elbows: 95% Same as the shoulders but less apt to get sore
Hands/Wrists: 85% same as above
Knees: 100% - This is weird because these were BAD in February, but now I don't get a peep out of them.
Achilles: 100% - not a peep
Platar Fasciitis: 95% mostly better, still apt to ache a little with overuse but as long as I use those heel inserts it goes away.
Foot in general: 75% The sides have been bothering me. It almost feels like my feet are swollen. I'll get a bad pain there while doing something but I won't be able to recreate it. It bothers me because I've got pins in there...really don't want those fuckers to dislodge.

Eye twitching still around. Sometimes get random twitches in other spots.

Overall I am doing pretty good. No longer have any sort of suicidal thoughts. Most of the time I feel pretty damn normal...and I have thoughts that by the time Summer is around I will be feeling almost totally normal. I start reading those quinolone forums again though and I get a little depressed and know that I am not out of the woods yet. Need to stop doing that.

Still dealing with this shit.

The ups and downs make it really hard to track progress. At times I thought certain tendons were back to 100% but most of them are still prone to injury at some degree or another. Overall, most days I feel OK as long as I don't tweak anything or push myself too hard. The systemic popping of tendons over/around joints is still very prevalent.

Still hoping for a full recovery.

Either I am getting worse again or it is more waxing and waning.

The best I have felt since this happened was late March/very early April. Now I am back feeling pretty crummy.

After I got out of bed this AM my achilles felt like they were going to snap. Both extremely painful. After an hour or so it more or less went away.
I've had bouts of very dry eyes.
Sore/painful/sensitive teeth has been pretty persistent for the last month or so (this is very scary)

Everything else is completely up and down. Literally from day to day. I walked more than a mile in my old birkenstock sandals and the next day it felt like my knees were going to buckle they were so sore. A few days later this is mostly gone. Instead, now my achilles are super painful and my feet hurt where I've got pins in them from a 7 year old surgery.

The one thing that has pretty much stayed somewhat better has been my back after the prolotherapy.

There is nothing else I can do but wait...but this is just getting completely and totally miserable. I've been dealing with this for six months...not sure what is going to happen to me, what exactly is happening to me... etc. I haven't been really depressed about it in a long time, but it is coming back. I am starting to be very afraid that I am never going to heal.

If I wasn't going through this I think I would be having the most rewarding year of my life in regards to athletics, career, and health.

I just had a bunch of labwork done, and so far it has all come back perfect. Just waiting for a handful of more autoimmune tests and then I am back to nothin.

Dude, I have not paid attention to this thread in about 5 pages now and I read back no further than this. I HAVE FELT THE PAIN FROM THOSE Antibiotics. It dont last this long. You are either working too hard through this OR its in your head. So I will give you the CURE at this time. QUIT IT. QUIT any work whatsoever other than just getting out of bed and walking around. You will be fine in 6 weeks tops... The bet back on the horse slow. YOU KEEP WORKING and YOU WILL be through. Cut it out. ITs that simple...

You will find all kinds of lumps / hard spots once you start looking. Just forget about it....:)

You talking to me or OhNoYo? I think he is over his very mild reaction. I however, am not. Dude, I've tried doing nothing, tried physical therapy, tried pain meds, tried not using pain meds, tried anti-inflammatory diets, etc. etc. If it was as simple as "rest for 6 weeks" there is a forum of 690 folks and a facebook group of over a 1,000 people that are going to disagree with you.

Talking to OHno. Saw what looked like a recent post where he was still complaining. I am not in doubt of long term consequences BY ANY MEANS. I have felt the wrath of FQs. Fortunately they left me about as quickly as they came. I figured you had further issues. But his track, as I followed, seemed like it should have subsided based on what he was presenting.

Still, If I were you, I would do my best to forget about it and try to let the body heal. Even if that means just going to bed and work for the next year. If the damage is neurological and real, its not going any where unfortunately. I wish I could say better, but adult Neurological just doesnt have that much ability to repair.

Have you researched GH as a fix? (not to futher encourge fixating on it). But always worth a read... I dont know, Just offering a thought..

OK... I just went back and read a few. Are you not the runner too that I am thinking of?? I could be thinking of someone else there. But based on all the stuff you have there "Walked a mile in Birks". WTF. YOU need to just cut it out too. STOP DOING ANYTHING PHYSICAL FOR PETE"S SAKE... I speculate you are aggrivating the aggrivated. You HAVE to let everything try to settle back down to a baseline of NOTHING. Let it heal... WHy are you still doing these things if you are hurt??!!??
