What to expect from Q10?

I thought about trying this highly absorbable Kaneka Ubiquinol. But before I'd like to know if you somehow notice any effects from Q10. Is is only healthy and you feel absolutely nothing? Cause in this case it wouldn't be worth it. I cannot afford to simply use all kinds of supposedly healthy supplements because that isn't affordable so I try to only take stuff which really makes sense and is also payable on the long run, like fish oil for example.

I didnt notice anything after I started it but maybe I wasnt paying attention.. Its value lies in improved cellular energe production an in preventing bad things from happening.

I was thinking about giving some Q10 to my father who takes statin drugs but I read that Q10 can also influence blood sugar and blood pressure and since he also takes blood pressure meds I don't know if that would be such a good idea or if it might cause side effects. Especially since the product I was thinking about buying has 100mg Q10 which is a pretty high dose.

I know. I also read this. But when I did some reading on Q10 I also read that it can affect blood sugar and blood pressure and that worried me cause I thought what if this interacts with all the drugs he's taking against BP and blood lipids? I'm sure if I told him to ask his doctor about Q10 he'd just laugh at him.

Yea, it effects them in a good way. He will be better off if you get him to take it than if you dont.

But what if you can also overdose on Q10? Would it be better to use smaller daily doses like 30mg compared to 100mg?

But if you can also take too much Q10 then this means you'd have to get your levels checked all the time which would cost a lot on the long run. Maybe it's not worth messing with all this stuff if it creates so many problems. The last thing I need is spending money for supplements and then even have to worry about overdosing.

Astually statins deplete endogenous CoQ10. Any on statins should be taking CoQ10.

Yeah, that. I've been taking 300mg/day prophylactically ever since starting simvastatin some 4-5 years ago now. Never noticed anything from it but also never experienced any side effects from the statin. Big Pharma knew this of course from the gitgo. Initially they were going to package CoQ10 with the statin in a single pill. Dunno why they decided not to but I'm sure it had something to do with $$$.
