I agree with the rest, or most of the rest. I've seen them 5 times and all have been great and unlike most bands, there music seems to continue to get better. I still love Grassroots but even the new stuff is great. Good thread DBP!

ok i'll stop this happy thread. 311 sucks. their songs suck, and they sound even more flaming than lincoln park. "nothing good to say = don't say anything at all" right? my bad. 311 is particularly annoying to me, the lead singer sounds like the lost member of Queer Eye.

Is there any truth to this....somehow me and my gf got to talking about 311 one day and she mentioned she heard some story that theyre racist and that theyre name 311 really means KKK. 3 of the eleventh letter of the alphabet, which is k.......

I highly doubt that there is any shred of truth to that, since one of the lead singer , S.A Martinez is a mexican, and the bass player P-nut is a fellow Jew. The new album is called "evolver" , its pretty damn good. Listening to a 3 CD is one thing, seeing them live is something totally different. they are the best live band i have ever seen, without question . Every concert is like an epic performance. Buy a live show DVD , you'll see what i mean. These fuckers are considered god to bands like linkin park, no doubt etc., for the early work they did before they made any money, and the shit they did with Soul Coughing.

Quasimoto, that is so cool man. I had no idea they were such a great live band.
For years I pretty much drifted off and was not too big of a 311 fan. All of a sudden, a few weeks ago, I rented Adam Sandler's DVD 50 First Dates (By the way, do not piss your money away on that movie. It sucked, and Adams Sandler's career is going down the shitter. He just keeps producing bad movie after bad movie). On the DVD, it has the video for "Love Song" (they did a great job) and a live concert performance of "Amber". Those guys were phenomenal. They have so much vitality, so much energy..........I was moved to go out and buy their greatest hits CD. whaddaya know, I had no idea 311 was such a phenomenal band. I always liked them, but I had no idea they were this phenomenal.

I hope and pray I am lucky enough to see them in concert one day. Majors1331, Quasimoto, MRPG13, TxJustin, Makoman...........if 311 is ever playing in your city, please give me a holler. I would definitely love to go with ya'll and go see them in concert. I am buying the beer.

The great thing about them live is that they like to play in the smaller venues that make for a much better concert. I rate them up with the beastie boys, as they have had a great impact in the music scene. Hard to believe that they have been around for 10+ years.

Honestly, the CD's do them no justice. Concerts are 100x better, the energy and atmosphere are unmatched with any other band imho

Majors1331 , I am as serious as a heart attack. The city I live in, i seriously, seriously doubt 311 will ever come to. If they ever come to your city, please give me a few weeks' warning.........I'll hop on a Southwest Airlines flight and, LOL like I said, I am buying all the beer you can drink.

By the way, the bass player, P Nut............this a guy is a MMMOOONNNSSSTTTEEERRR. I mean song after song, this guy has some of the most badass riffs I have ever heard from a bass player. Is P Nut considered to be a fantastic bass player, or am I imagining things?? This guy is a total BADASS.

I have seen 311 5-6 times. First time was back when I was like 16 years old. They always put on a good show. But, the best show I have ever been to was the Beastie Boys back in 1995. They were fucking awesome! The get the crowd involved throughout the entire show and just bounce all around the stage. I have seen the B-boys 4 times...and just bought my tickets on Thursday (preorder) for when the come back on Oct. 15th. I can't wait. They haven't been here in like 5 years. Anyone else like the Beasties?

lmao,, I am listening to Down right now. ALl 3 songs i downloaded i have heard. I really like the song down. just didnt know who sang it. I didnt care for AMBER though lmao. I only listened to the first few seconds of that one though. The start was awful.
