40 Year Old Needs Advice

So I'm 40 years old and in pretty great shape. I spent much of my 30's running and doing cardio and ended up with zero muscle and trying to pack back on some weight. I've done two cycles of test cyp previously with a good PCT and all went very well. I was contemplating a 20 week test cycle and wanted to get some feedback from those more experienced as to if that's a good idea.

My concerns are ability to recover and if it would bring me anything significant that I could hold on to.

Appreciate the help and or advice in advance.

My best advice is to go get blood work done...if you're worrying about recovering, you'll never really know unless you get precycle bloodwork.

I think a test only cycle st 20 weeks is a simple one to recover from with proper PCT. Thrown in another compound and that complicates things. I think what you need to worry about more with a 20 week test cycle at our age is cholesterol and tendon/ligament issues.

How long since your previous cycles, and what was their duration?

How many milligrams per week?

Did you get blood work pre cycle / on cycle / post cycle?

If you're worried about recovery, the longer you're on, the harder it will be to recover. But that doesn't mean you won't recover well. You very well might.

Instead of a 20 week cyp cycle, why not try an 8-10 week test prop / NPP cycle? NPP is great for quality gains and can give you some added comfort while you're beating your body up at the gym.

Not enough info man ! Is hard to get an idea or give an advice /lack of info.

How long ago was your last cycle ? Back then did you run labs ? Precycle / post cycle ? Did you recover ?

What's your natty number right now ?

All good questions here from these guys here.
Honestly 20 weeks just seems kind of long. Are you done with having kids and all that yet?
Just be aware there is always the risk that you will not recover.

I tend to agree with that. 20 weeks is a long time and you won't only have recovery issues, but also consider that halfways into that cycle, your receptors are going to whack and you will get less bang out of your cycle. Sides too, can be a hazzle. I'm 44, recovery is ok, you just gotta respect that PCT, eat and train like a mofo.

If you only have two cycles (recent?) under your belt, I'd go for a few shorter blasts instead of a long one.

If you want to "pack on some muscle" faster than normal (natural), stop actin like a pussy and jump on some test for 12 weeks. If you've cycled before and recovered well then you already know how things will go, and all you're doing now is looking for some attention from the guys on this site.

12 weeks is plenty especially if your starting below where you used to be as far as muscle size.

250mg every 3rd day is plenty
Get a good workout I don't train very long at all you don't need a long time training that just leads to more inroads to recovery
Train the muscle not the nervous system like a powerlifter ..
Injuries are easy to come by I never had one and at almost 47 I'm not looking to get one

You ever think of keeping on a hormone replacement with a doctor?

The most muscle I ever got..
Well size anyway I did have water it was 250mg Sost every 5th day for 8 weeks I stopped weighing at just under 230 ..
I don't eat enough now to pass 190 but I'll get there fast ..

Don't go too heavy I see guys come back to training just to hurt themselves the first or second week ..
Heavy weight isn't needed like I said train the muscle feel it work

I like the idea of training the muscle not the nervous system.. something I should try and follow sometimes I forget to leave my ego at the door

Most these guys at the gym throw the weight that's fine if you're training for power possibly a sport but not as a bodybuilder ..
I didn't have abs until I was 42
And then even better at 45 and I was eating taco bell at least three times a week and when I eat taco bell I eat taco bell ..
I eat for health most the time I don't pack calories in it's not healthy and since I don't care to be past 180 it works out fine
I don't go to doctors never really needed them

Check out DemonDosage`s site

while upstate New York I was trying something different I was always into Mike Mentzer workouts because I wanted to feel like my muscles were trained and not my spine and other bones ligaments and tendons
So I started making sure I felt the muscle the squeeze etc from each rep with none to very little weight and my abs not only came out but my chest took a better shape it squared off I looked much better and I train for maybe 30min when I do train.sometimes a lot less
So I came back here was reading Demons post about his site he opened I went there and found he trained the same way .. generally but he probably uses more weight ..

How would you like to look?
Remember your muscle will come.back pretty fast so a lot of gear isn't needed.
I'd even test the workout before even starting the cycle

Man there's a lot of old fuckers on this thread. What's the next thing going To be, that a 65-year old comes hopping along?

@DonQKong, watch your mouth you young punk! I'm 65 and will come thru this internet to beat your hairy backside...... and I still don't use any meds to get my soldier up!

:p

First off you guys are great! Second thanks for all the responses especially sos damn quick.

My previous two cycles were both 10 weeks with lab work done before which came in at 545 which was first thing in the morning which I've heard may cause the number to be a higher. I did not get lab work after however after about 4-5 weeks the mental fog and lack of energy passed and I started to feel myself again.

I don't want to be huge, just have a little size and be toned. I'm 5'10 and 160lbs and just small in stature. I've always had difficulty putting on weight and I really caused damage when with too much cardio and not enough diet. I ended up looking anemic.

If I can get a good jump start I can work my ass off to maintain. Effort is not a problem however lack of what I should be doing is my concern. I won't BS, I feel frail, my sex drive has dropped as has my confidence for no reason at all which drives me crazy.

Also I thought about just cruising however that scares the hell out of me. It just seems to final for me. Plus I've heard that after awhile the effects dwindle as your body adjusts. Have no clue if that's accurate.

Why 20 weeks? Just do a standard 500mg test cyp cycle for for 12 weeks and lift like a maniac while eating everything in sight.

There's no reason whatsoever to run test alone for 20 weeks.
