50 year old and AAS

Just a litte history. I will be turning 53 next week. I am 5-9 185 lbs. I have maintained this weight for the most part for many years. However I have noticed that my BF has risen therefore I am losing muscle. I am very active as I run and cycle regularly. I have also spent time in the gym most of my adult life. I had blood work done Friday and still await my test levvels.

If my Dr. suggest TRT than I will certainly go that route. However is maintaing "normal" testosterone levels enough to allow an older man to gain muscle, provided rest, diet and excercise are adaquate ? If levels are in the normal range and he doesn't suggest TRT, would a Cycle of AAS or two allow me to add muscle ?

PS. I have no known health issues.

Thanks

running a test cycle will give you good muscle gain if your diet and workouts are good, but remember no gains are permanent .

If you have low T and are put on trt you likely will gain lean mass. I gained 10 lbs in about a yr after beginning trt, with everything else staying the same

I'm almost 51 and while I had my ups and downs I've been able to stay reasonably lean much of my life considering I've a tendency to get fat easy (endo)

Keeping diet and training on point is more essential for us old farts to keep our muscles from withering away...

my thoughts on this at the half century age mark, is I would never do it as a "cycle" thing and expect anything good to come out of it long term, at this point of my experience, if at this age I was going to inject for the first time, it would be the beginning of injecting and being on forever

of course this is theoretically speaking from experience, as I have experimented for decades so it has been a long long time since my first injection, but knowing what I do know and if I had lived differently and was a beginner, I would know that cycling at this age is not any answer

I did my first cycle when I was over 60. It was the first time in my life I had ever taken any. This was pharm grade I got through a clinic. Teste and Deca. If I remember correctly it was about 300mg/wk ea. I didn't know anything about steroids . (I still don't:)) Phenomenal results.
I'm one who also believes genetics play a big role.

Thanks kawilt. After doing a fair amount of reasearch, I am convinced that the downside is far less for older men. After all, for most test levels are on the low end, so I believe the upside risk outweigh the downside. It is all dependant on my natural levels and I am still waiting on the results of the bloodwork.

Im in my late 60's and even a small amout of AAS make a huge difference on how i gain muscle back and how i look ie: 150mg Test E and 150 EQ a week does wounders for me....No bad side effects to speak of. I did some huge cycles when i was 64...1500mg a week. when im off cycle my natural test level is high 400's...

There are some downside risk that anyone must consider. Shutting down your natural production of T, elevating blood pressure, and potential liver damage. This doesn't even take into consideration the fact that most are forced to obtain their gear from UGL's, which after reading this forum appears to be a crap shoot at best. The potential benefits are very compelling however, especially to us older guys who aren't ready to slow down yet.

People that have issues are people that use stupid high doses of steroids, some people will do that no matter what the cost later in life.......I have done probably 40 cycles since 1984 at reasonable doses and i dont have any issues now.I just had a complete heart check up im in very good condition. The only medication i take is thyroid for hypothyroidism. The only problem i have is old injuries that i have work around.

Good thread. I'm 59 and been on AAS for 9 years thus far. I have enough AAS to last until I'm 75 and I'm going to buy more when my supply gets low! From injectables, capsules, to tablets. Bad side effects? Yep I have those and they come from my nosy ass doctors! "Why is your test level so high and other shit" that they always say every month.
I was on TRT for 5 years and supplemented that with 2 gms. of month with test e.
The fuckers took me off because they were so damn concerned about what the "steroids" were doing to me. Yeah, I told them because 300mg. every two weeks wasn't doing shit!
I asked them for Viagra at the outset. Now, I can get hard at the drop of a hat!
Love those steroids! I believe if I stop, I'd probably die within 6 months.

Thanks guys for some great information. I have done so much research that I have information overload. Its great to hear from guys who are living it. I know the direction I am leaning, just waiting on my blood-work results. Whats taking them so long ??
