69 year old 250mg Test for 1 year

Assuming, key word, that your dad is as pigheaded as all old people - and I'm on my way - then guiding his "TRT" to safer waters is prudent.

125 per week should bring him below the 1K mark. That's pretty much my exact baseline TRT dose btw, and I test right under 1K at that.

That will also radically drop his aromatization, so he might not need any AI after 3 weeks on the new dose. He could skip a week just to get corrected faster.

I just got off the phone with him and told him the results. He says he is willing to drop the dose to 125mg/week for the next couple months and recheck bloodwork. He doesnt want to take the AI at this time. My Dad is pretty conservative when it comes to taking drugs and doesnt want to take too much stuff at once.

I dont think there is anything wrong with lowering the dose to 125mg/week. My only concern was that the estradiol may not drop as fast as his testosterone which will throw off the ratio and he may experience side effects from high estrogen.

If you look at the halflife calculators of how much test is floating around in you, I think if he skips one week's worth of injections, and then resumes at the 125 level, he should be in far better shape than he is in right now.

The half-life of estradiol (E2) is only 20-30 hours (give or take) so I don't think you need to worry about that.

Thanks a lot for your help. I have a decent understanding about half lives, but never looked into it regarding estradiol. I'll do some more research and check out the calculators to get things dialed in even better. Much appreciated.

Is he experiencing any estrogen related issues at the moment? It doesn't sound like it so why throw a harsh cancer drug at a problem that doesn't exist?

No, he isnt experiencing any estrogen related side effects that Im aware of. He looks very bloated, but he's not suffering from gyno, lethargy, low libido or anything like that.

He's not interested in taking an AI for the time being, so we will see what 125mg/week of Test does for him.
