A cure for sleep apnea?

@XKawN If people are not in the industry they don't understand. All they do is repeat absolute bullshit lies and propaganda fed to them by main stream America. Just like the points @Eman has said "no disrespect"

Despite me being unhappy about being apart of your little rant, I'm going to very nicely tell you that you're incorrect... but I understand your position. I understand that it's a major inconvenience for you to deal with this regulation and you're upset about it, I get it. I work with trucking at my job and know that a lot of guys that are heavy set have to jump through hoops to get just a DOT physical card.

I have sleep apnea, I was having trouble nodding off at my desk at work through the week. I know several guys that were extremely tired all the time from untreated sleep apnea. It wouldn't take a rocket scientist to determine that putting someone like myself or the others I've met with untreated sleep apnea behind a wheel is unsafe. It's not because the DOT or gov wants to pick you on you, it's not because they want to make a profit off of you (I'd love to know how they're magically making a profit on this BTW). Trucking isn't the only industry that's regulated in this manner either... The FAA is a lot more strict. Do you think that's unfair? Do you want to get into a plane with a pilot that has OSA and has been untreated for years? I doubt it.

Have some professionalism and accept that this is apart of your profession and it keeps people safe. It keeps you from dying at a young age and it keeps drivers around you safe. Trucking has a ton of risk... I've spent lots of time on the highway, we used to see truckers falling asleep and swerving on a regular basis, from what we assumed was just too long of a shift... Add sleep apnea to the mix and the risk goes up significantly. Anything to help minimize the risk in your industry should be embraced, even when it's an inconvenience.

Do you even have a cdl?

This is not a inconvenience for me or any of my drivers at all.

You "work" with trucking at your job? Wtf does that mean? Your not a driver or a owner.

If you fall asleep at your desk then you are a danger to me and my family so maybe you should turn in your DL?

I never said the DOT made money it's deeper then that. Like I said educate yourself before spewing bullet points you here from tv or other people. It starts with lobbyists of these apnea machine companies and sleep study companies. Same as what's going on with elogs. I won't rant about this again. Google it

Have some professionalism you say? Lol
Do you realize over 2 MILLION truckers right now are saying the same thing I am?? Are we all un professional?

I've been around this business since I was born and actually working in it for 20 yrs and a trucking company owner for 14 yrs. my family has a long line of drivers and current drivers. So don't talk to me about professionalism. We are the professional drivers you mention. Most of the rookie drivers you see today in fucking flip flops and basketball shorts are the unprofessional ones!!

Trucking is my life and I'm passionate about this industry. It has and does provide a great life for me and my family. It irritates me when people talk bullshit they know nothing about.

Not ONE mention about how my problem WAS NOT WITH SLEEP APNEA THOUGH HUH??? Why nothing about that part of my post? You know why?? Because you can't comment on that because you have ZERO knowledge about what I was talking about.

Do you know anything about OOIDA and the current case we are fighting in the supreme courts over ELD's? Nope.

Don't tell me I'm wrong because you heard something somewhere are you know a trucker or 2.

I embrace anything that make my drivers more safe on the roads. You have no idea about the rules and regulations we abide by daily. There obviously needed and I welcome them. Then there's regs that make our jobs harder and more unsafe. As long as some says "safety" then that's all everyone hears and well shit it must be the right thing if it's safety.

You think traffic and trucks are bad now?? Lol just wait. There trying to regulate all trucks to run the same MPH nation wide lol somewhere around 60-64mph. But as long as they tell you it's gonna be safer I'm sure you'll be all for it. That's an entire different rant lol

Not to be on either side of this conversation but I drove an armored truck for 3 years. It was the worst fucking job ever! We would drive 20 hours in a day constantly fighting to stay awake knowing we had done same the day before and will do the same the following day. Talk about brutal.
Those trucks were 26,000lbs dry. With 40 gallons of fuel, coin and passengers you don't think that shit weighed 30,000+ lbs? Some of them had no working ABS! That was fucking dangerous. Where we're the laws on us? No CDL no nothing. Just a valid DL to drive one.
That's where the regulations should be.

Go fuck yourself, smartass. :)

For the record, I've never once heard of sleep apnea and the trucking industry being covered on the news. The big bad main stream media, poor you.

Too much of a personal investment/bias to see clearly....

I think it would be more unbiased to say eman and myself have too much of a personal investment as well. Saying just high risk is biased in it's self.

I haven't seen Eman's emotions get the best of him in this thread yet so as much or as little he has a personal vested interest, it's yet to cloud his responses here

Wtf, he's the one with way too much emotion. Calling peoples names and getting irate.

No, Highrisk

I probably SHOULD be more biased... I employ truck drivers. Do you know how hard it is to find qualified drivers, THEN on top of that find drivers that wont fail a DOT physical because of an obscure health standard? How about providing health insurance that's inflated by sleep apnea patients on the payroll? It's a complete pain in the ass.

But, it is what it is and you'd have to be seriously short sighted to think that keeping untreated sleep apnea sufferers off the road until they get treated isn't a positive thing... But no, it's the all powerful CPAP machine lobbyists winning all those fights in Washington against the little old DOT... Give me a break.

I'm not irate.. I only told him to go fuck himself because his previous statement made it obvious he didn't want to have a conversation about it, he wanted to fight.

It's hard to have a friendly debate when conspiracy theories are involved.

Called me names as well. Not that i care. I know you don't mean it, lol. But to say your not just as emotional as me or highrisk is obviously not true.

Lol when your out of info and bullet points to spew you resort to name calling. VERY PROFESSIONAL! I don't recall me calling you names? If I did I honestly don't remember.

I don't think I'm emotionally involved? I get irritated debating conspiracy theories and arguments with little basis of fact though. It leads to broad assumptions that are impossible to argue with because it's just someone saying something with nothing to back it up.

I gave you talking points and you looked over them to make some kind of obscure case against the regulation. You even go as far as telling me that this isn't an inconvenience for you, what are you arguing against it for then?

I didn't say you called me names, but you sure as shit weren't able to participate in the debate in a friendly manner.

I got drug into your rant, you tell me all my "incorrect" talking points are generated from the MSM, that I'm not an owner nor do I have a CDL and several other incorrect facts that really have no bearing on whether I can form an opinion on the topic anyways... Regardless, it showed me how little you know about my background and that you're pretty much just pulling shit out of your ass and throwing it at the wall, hoping it'll stick.

After reading a post full of incorrect assumptions pointed at me, I decided I was going to conclude the debate rather than bother wasting my time addressing each of them one by one only to be likely hit with a bunch more in a subsequent post.

Friendly debate?? My first post said no disrespect to you that it was not aimed at you. It simply was a rant for my disdain for uninformed people such as your self. You took it personal. And your goddamn right I'm passionate about my industry. It's how me and my family live!

But....

You can eat dick fag since you wanna call names you fuck. You hire drivers??? Sure u do. You don't know the fucking difference between a fifth wheel and a king pin. You couldn't pick out a qualified driver if your life depend on it. You'd see a guy that probably over weight because he spends his life in a truck with zero exercise doing a job he loves and pre judge him. Thinking oh I bet this guy has sleep apnea because he's fat and he must me dangerous right? That's the type of people you are.

My father fit the typical truck driver model. 6'2" probably 300lbs with a trucker belly. Drove trucks for 40 years and had over 4 MILLION ACCIDENT FREE MILES in all weather conditions. I guarantee he had sleep apnea. But yet somehow he didn't drive around falling asleep killing car loads of families on there way to church.

Maybe if we had a voice in the trucking industry things would be different and more wide spread. Instead we get desk jockeys making up rules about shit they know nothing about feeding them to sheeple like yourself. Who actually believe what they hear.

"The powerful cpap machine lobby" goes to show your fucking ignorance once again. 3.5 million drivers on the road today. You get 50% of them diagnosed with sleep apnea and they have to buy cpap machines. That's 1,750,000,000 1 BILLION SEVEN HUNDRED FIFTY MILLION in sales. Conspiracy?? Lol no your just fucking stupid or naïve or both. Not to mention the hundred of millions in sleep study test.

You just don't get it do you??? This issue at hand is not sleep apnea.

I DONT KNOW WHO MUCH CLEARER I CAN BE.

What don't you understand?????? You keep saying sleep apnea sleep apnea sleep apnea.

Fuck sleep apnea. ITS HOURS OF SERVICE THATS THE ISSUE! This goes back to your ignorance on this issue. You don't know so you don't understand.

Good drivers are hard to find especially if you work for a shit company. All my drivers get 2 yr card everytime. None are over weight. None are on BP meds and none have sleep apnea.

Yet your theory of drivers driving around falling asleep it so well established, well known and backed with years of studies it was pulled by FMCSA. Lol did you know that?? Probably not. But that's ok I don't expect you to know that it's not your job. It's mine though. Did you know one of the criteria for the sleep apnea test was a male over 42 yrs old?? Really because someone is over 42 they must have sleep apnea? If that doesn't sound like lobbyist what does?

Here's the ruling just so you don't think my claims are factless like yours.image.png

Thoughts on this?^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Man that sucks! I drove a box truck years ago like that. For some reason dot forgets about the smaller commercial vehicles and focus on big commercial class A combination vehicles. Chances are they know we're the money is. Big companies and owner OP's usually have deep pockets.
