Anavar - How long to kick in

Started anavar 5 days ago 40mg per day. I get horrible cramps when I stretch my arms up at my bicep insertions and as well as my hams, calves and stomach area. It's weird.

I tried increasing my sodium intake but it looks like I might need to get some magnesium and taurine supps

i tried Var for 1 day, (20mgs split 10 in the am, 10 in the afternoon). could have been placebo but in the gym.... the pumps were borderline unbearable. loved it. it was mostly in my forearms which is what ive seen some say in this post...

Im German and tried to look through some old archives but coudnt find anything specific daily dose, the pills came in 5mg and they apperantly took "a few a day" so I am guessing in the 10-20mg rage, keep in mind they did not use testosterone injections. Only real number I could find was 2720mg, which Detlef Gerstenberg took over his whole Olympa preperation for the 1980 summer olympics. Detlef Gerstenberg - Wikipedia

I've always wondered what dosage they took since reading that a long time ago.

There’s a book “Faust’s Gold” that has all the doses. It covers the court trials for the women swimmers that had fucked up hormones later in life when they brought the East German doctors to justice. They all got slaps on the wrists though.

They gave oral turinabol (5 to 10 mg a day in 4-week on/4-week off blocks) as well as injections of NPP and Deca (low doses of 50-100 mg/week). When drug-testing improved they dropped the deca. Remember, this is for swimming so they just wanted the recovery benefits. They weren’t looking to create bodybuilders.

Achieving more in less time basically.

Lifting results 9 weeks in (500mg test) and 11 days in (50mg Anavar):

With only another 3.5 weeks to go on my blast. Achieving my strength goals is looking doubtful. I am considering extending a couple weeks unless you guys think it is a bad idea health wise.

Lifting Goals:
  • 3 plate bench for triples - This was my biggest goal
  • 80kg (176lbs) overhead press for 5
  • 4 plate squat for a single
  • 220kg sumo deadlift for a triple
Current Numbers
Flat Bench:

130kg (286lbs) for 3 Reps x 5 sets
12kg (26lbs) added to my bench 8 weeks into my blast. Not as good as I had hoped to be honest.

Incline Bench:
100kg (220lbs) x 8 Reps x 3 sets
12kg (26lbs) also added to my incline bench 8 weeks into my blast. Again a bit disappointed.

Squat:
155kg (342lbs) x 3 Reps x 5 Sets
20kg (44lbs) added during my 8 week blast.

Overhead Press:
70kg (155lbs) x 6 Reps x 3 Sets
10kg (22lbs) added in 8 week blast

Conventional Rack Pull (Below Knees):
190kg (418lbs) x 6 Reps x 3 Sets
30kg (66lbs) added in 8 week blast

Sumo Deadlift:
In 2 Days
Projecting 200kg x 3 Reps x 3 Sets
If achieved will be a good improvement of around 40kg (88lbs)

As you will note I have gained about 22lbs on all my pushing movements with better results on squats and deads. I was really hoping to achieve the following goals by the end of my blast but it is looking doubtful.

At the moment it looks like the overhead press and Sumo deadlift could be achieved with the other two looking challenging/doubtful.

Any advice?

Nice it is to see someone set manageable goals and understand Rome wasn’t built overnight.

Be very careful with the overhead press progression as they place A LOT of stress on the shoulder joint and mandate a very stable rotator cuff.

And I only mention this be I’ve seen a number of BB and PL with messed up shoulders with overhead barbell presses as the sentinel event.

Fact is I’ve long questioned the utility of overhead presses in all but Olympic Lifters.

For me anecdotally, overhead press is the single best builder. However, it causes imbalances and needs to be countered with posterior work.

So many different opinions here but everyone is different right. For me 100mg all in 1 hit about 1 hour before training back and biceps. And my shit is tighter than all fing hell. I’m talking skin ripping pumps and major strength increase. I use my own Var suspension and it’s not for sale. I had my Var tested and came back 98% pure. I have the Jano report. No lethargic issues either.

Definitely get some taurine and also increase your potassium intake. It really helps a lot. Legit var gives me crazy pumps/cramps in my low back, calves, and abs. One time I did crunches right before getting in the 45 degree leg press. Just the process of getting in the seat caused my abs to have insane and painful cramps. One guy thought I was having a heart attack judging by the look on my face lol. I get lethargic with most orals, but never with anavar.

I agree. I have found neutral grip overhead pressing variations to help. Dumbbells and kettlebells are great tools for these variations. Target some extra posterior delt work and focused scapular exercises to strengthen and stabilize the entire shoulder.

Just to add. I was taking 40mg ed too. Back in day I took 80mg ed. But looking back that was too much, very little upside and a waste of money especially because var is so expensive.

Thanks Guys!
Bumped it up from 60mg to 70mg (under dosed so likely around 75 to 80). Is that enough to feel a increase in strength for the final 2 weeks of my blast?

I’m stretching often but my knees where it meets my quads is super sore. I assume it’s the tendons that connect the quads to the knees.

I'll drink that Var lol

I believe that this lethargy that a lot of you guys describe while being on is actually because you are training very hard, rather than being a side effect of the gear.

If you are feeling like shit, take a reload.

im on 40mg right now a day. going into week 4 of my blast. lower back pumps showed up last week during my back workout.
may bump it up to 60mg when the gym opens for me.
