Not true...Deadly Force is authorized in this case as long as the officer feared for his safety or the safety of others.

if an officer shoots an un-armed man....he will be in "a world of shit". if u were right and i was wrong there would be many cases of police shooting people etc. there are internal investigators that investigate every shooting intensively....and if a cop shoots a guy because he "thought" he had a gun (but actually didnt) his ass would be in some big time trouble. it would be really hard to blame your imagination on shooting an unarmed man and get away with it.

Look up use of Deadly Force. Every state has the same statement of "When Deadly Force is authorized."

Sure Internal affairs will do an investigation. A suit will probably be brought by the ACLU. But all the officer has to show is that he identified himself, feared for his own safety or the safety of others.
