In McDonald V chicago they fell back to the 14th amendment a reconstruction amendment(post civil war)
Weve already seen the states exert themselves in many creative ways but has any of the fifty states nor the federal gov proclaimed"turn in your guns"
there is also an ammendment(14) about due process in which no one can be deprived of life,liberty or property w/out due process! So to open carry or conceal is a states right,the state may NOT take your weapon,but can restrict it in certain ways

Right on Goose. Also when they codified the second amendment they had to create a way for Citizens to obtain weapons. The Dept. of civilian marksmanship was created within the Dept. of the army to supply weapons to citizens. It was sometime in the 1980s , I remember, you could fill out the paper work and send it in. At that time they would mail you a Garand (M1). I think the cost then was around $300.00 maybe less. You had to go to a designated range and get qualified first. I don't know how it's set up today.

At least Oh-Ho-Ho is still open carry. It's in the State Constitution, much to the chagrin of politicians in the big cities.

They may not be "manly" in your eyes, but they're just the sort of men you'd want to have that much responsibility. We can't all be snake eaters and roll in the mud.
