And me as well. For me one cue before I break the weight off the floor and one after is all I can handle. Before I break the weight it is driving my heels into the ground after it is keeping my chest up.

When I have tried to concentrate on both driving my heels and keeping my chest up at the same time it has proven to be one more cue than I could process while pulling.
 
No thanks needed and I'm sure Doc and INH will sat the same thing. All we did was give you some pointers based on the video. I was expecting subtle improvement this week then a little more next week but not really getting you dialed in until you got to work with a coach.

Now I'm fully convinced you will be able to get dialed in on your own with a few more pulling sessions. From someone who constantly struggles with his deadlift form I can say with no hesitation I am super impressed with what you were able to accomplish in a single session.

Keeping my chest up is the cue. The more I exaggerate that the more I sit back. I also keep my toes up a bit when I initiate the lift- keeps me honest. You saw I almost fell over backwards on my 405 attempt. Very surprised how light it felt.
 
This was 385 paused this morning. I have virtually no lower back arch (lower back arch shortens the range of motion making the press easier) so the whole time my back is off the bench I'm concentrating on squeezing my shoulder blades and lats together getting them as tight as possible. The press could have been steadier but that's another story.

Get some much needed rest if you can. I know what ya mean by kids. We cant get my lil 2yr girl to stop saying "Fuck You" smh. We was at a parent teacher conference a couple weeks ago for my son. We almost made it the entire time until something didn't go her way an you guessed it. She yelled out fuck you an we just had to act like it didn't happen lol but not lol smh.

I had a day like this last fri, i drive a little over an hour to get to the gym and that day i yawned the whole way but thought ill shake it off cause i always do. Well not the case, i hated every second of every set, if not for the fact i drive so far i would have went home.
But the next workout and every one since has been epic! So no worries brutus you'll bounce back, i just think sometimes the mind and body just need a break then its go time again.
Kill it next time brother!!!!

You're pretty huge dude. 270 at 12-13% bf.... crazy big. Your lifts don't seem to match up with your size though. I'm 205 10-11% bf and am with 20lbs of all your lifts (from your opening post anyways). I'm not being a douchebag, I don't consider myself very strong, but something might be up with your training. Looks like you hit mostly in the myofibillar range of reps.

Heavier lifting preferentially induces myofibrillar growth , and lighter lifting sarcoplasmic growth. Heavier lifting does result in some sarcoplasmic growth 11 12 and lighter lifting some myofibrillar growth , but the former induces more myofibrillar than sarcoplasmic, and the latter vice versa.

Edit: I'm not withing 20 lbs of your DL, lol. And after reading this post it does seem overly douchey. Just feel like your lifts could be bigger. Not saying I'll necessarily will have any answers to why that is, but hey... maybe someone will :)
 
I think Brutus"s bench is over 400lbs and his dead lift is way over 500. Not bad . Look at his before pics from just a few years ago , pretty impressive progress I think , plus he just started powerlifting . He's going for it..:D

Not stating he is weak by any means. That dude has to be freakishly huge. I just feel like he has monster strength potential at that size. Dude has like 230lbs of LBM! I would hit the 4-6 rep range more on my big lifts with 3 minute rest periods. Just my .02c :)

I think it all the time. People tell me it's because I have only been lifting weights for 2 1/2 years and really only been squatting and deadlifting for about a year and a half. I apparently have only been deadlifting correctly for a week. They say "be patient, it will come. Rome wasn't built in a day." Most of my training has been hypertrophy based- I am excited to see what happens when I switch to a pure strength building routine next month... hence the log. Stay tuned- you will either get to see a big man finally get strong or a big man cry because he is so weak. We shall see.

Oh wow. Didn't realize how short of a period you've been lifting. No doubt you'll be bending bars and bruising egos before long.

I want that more than anything... except to continue to stay clean and sober and make a good life for my baby girl. I'm gonna raise my weights and drop the reps from your posts for the remainder of the month until I get on a coach program based on your feed back. Thanks!
