Cats

I'm sorry for your loss, bro. While I'm not a great fan of cats, I don't particularly hate them either. However, when I married my long time friend last year, 4 cats, 1 dog, and 2 girls came with the package deal. While we were in the process of packing up the moving truck, one of the cats ran out of the door and we had to leave her behind. Months later, the cat's brother got out of my wife's car and ran away. I've gotten very used to the 2 that we still have now.

Again, I am totally sorry for your loss, bro.

He was a good looking cat.

We have a cat named, Cleo, a lizard named Lizzy and a Amazon parrot named, Edison. They means a lot to us and are part of our family.
My condolences to you and yours

My condolences bro. I have two cats myself and have lost some in the past. They have always and will always be a big part in my life. Just know you gave him a great loving home for the time you had him. Your his hero !

I learned to love cats through my wife when I married her. Which was a mistake because we now have 7 of them.

Dr. Scally I feel your loss I too had a special cat in my life for 13 years. KATO. I named him after the character from the movie The Pink Panther. He did the same things to me, he would wait around the corner and when I passed he would jumpout and pearl harbor me lol. Kato developed liver failure and the vet told me he woudnt last much longer. The night/morning he passed away I laid him down next to my bed when we went to sleep knowing he didnt have the energy to jump off the bed, his favorite sleeping spot. When I awoke to my alarm that morning I saw he was gone but when I made it to my bedroom door there he was waiting for me and he died in my arms. To this day I still claim he waited for me to get up to say goodbye and he knew by the sound of the alarm I would be getting up. Puts water in my eyes eveytime I tell the story and this happened 3/14/04 It was the first day to start up work again

who says cats aren't loyal. I think many of you have seen the video of the attack cat body slamming the dog that attacked the the boy. It has been all over the news. Bad ass little pussy. When the dog bolted the attack cat gave pursuit. At some point, he decided it was not a good idea and ran for the safety of the house.
This should put all hateful propaganda about cats not caring to rest. Cats rule!
You should check out you tuba and see the action in slow motion. A regular sergeant York of cats.

Really, this first sentence is the only thing that generated this thread. The below paragraphs are bonus BS... I wonder has "science" realized that a cats eyes are like a MICROSCOPE...! They are not just psychos running around chasing ghosts.!! I noted this one day when the dog had been up in the bed and I had beat it out pretty good. But I am positive the cat was chasing MITES... The invisible skin type that get in sheets pretty quick...

I don't know if anyone has noticed. But there is a hybrid WHITE CAT out there running around lately(at least in my area). I tried to look up the breed, but there is no specific. They seem like a couple of white colored breeds that are described as "intelligent and Personable". But anyway, THESE CATS ARE LIKE DOGS (personality) if you see one and like cats - Grab it (as long as not someone else's). We found one as 3 weeks old and 4 inches tall when searching for a lost dog. Some old man said and take that little cat with ya. We said "what cat", and this tiny thing popped out from between some flower pots and followed us all the way thru the guys back yard to round up my broke leg dumbass lab, and then stayed toe-to-heel with us all the way to the car. I knew she was a keeper from the first couple of secs... This cat lays in bed with my young daughters under the sheets on her back arm stretched passed out.

What's odd about them is they are all the same personality-wise. Perhaps local to my area I don't know. But up at the 7/11 they are the ones that sit up on the porch when all the others run... LOL

For cat reference they are just a short haired all white some having one blue and a yellow eye. This one is both yellow. There is some rumor about a solid white cat with blue eyes being deaf - I don't know if true. They are too "mutted" to be both blue eyed like one of their original father/predecessor species (I imagine). But it is just nutty how "humanized" they are. The ROAMING WHITE TOM which I suspect fathered all the ones in this area would swing by every now and then heading into the garage to hit the food bowl. I would say whats up there- help yurself, and he would just keep on strolling with a brief acknowledging "yeaoww", and be on his way. The weirdest part female will actually talk back at you in "strings of meows" and with TONE INFLECTION.. Oddest thing I have ever seen...

Sam - He entered our lives a bit more than 5 years ago. Sam was the name I gave to him since he looked like your "everyday" cat. He was an extremely ill rescue. He was so malnourished that clumps of fur would fall off while being petted. The balls of his paws were the palest white I had ever seen.

My wife and I took turns attending to him. He had to be hand fed. At first, he was even too weak to stand for an extended period. Walking was not even an afterthought. I recall the first time I went to groom him and his fur just fell off revealing bald spots. I was worried he might not make it.

Well, Sam did make it and more. We have a number of cats, but Sam immediately became the statesman. His calm demeanor, friendliness, and confidence was a site to see. And, boy was he affectionate. One of his habits was to crawl up on my back and kneed. He did the same at night to the top of my wife's head. He was always willing to sit on a lap. Purring was as constant as his presence.

This past week, tragedy struck. His appetite almost disappeared overnite. What we thought was Sam trying to expel a hairball turned out to be worse, far worse. A visit to the vet showed Sam to be in heart failure with severe pulmonary edema. While the vet is unsure for the cause, he thinks cancer is the best guess. We took him home hoping he might improve, but his condition has worsened. He is losing weight daily. He will not take any food except for liquids sparingly. He lies in one place.

I do not make a habit of posting personal events as most will know. Sam will be leaving us this coming Monday at 5 PM. He has been a gift. This hurts. Thanks for reading/listening.

Thanks, Sam.

Here is one of Sam's vintage back rubs.

Thanks for sharing this Dr. Scally.

I have always had cats and dogs in my house. Put my dog down four years ago and have not gotten another. Put one of my cats down last year ( last autumn, she was 21).

My two cats keep me sane. They are indoor/outdoor cats, but when it starts getting cold, they are indoors. The last few nights they are both sleeping with my wife and I. They bring tons of joy into our house. They are comedic, loving and a great source of reality.
Even though I think about it, losing one or both would be unbearable, but I know it is a reality. I think it about more and more as they get older. Even more than my own mortality.
Sorry to hear for your loss. And take care.

Sorry for your loss.. My fur buddies are always here for me and I couldn't imagine not coming home to them.. Again sorry

I love my cats so much. I have one indoor/ outdoor and one indoor. I had a Persian but she was killed by a car a month or do ago. You want to see a grown man cry I was very upset. I now have 3 kittens that just showed up in my garage and I don't know what to do with them. I fee them 2x day and they haven't let me pick them up yet but we are working in building trust.
