What does CBP have to do with China doing crackdowns? Lol
More evidence of these dumb predictions.
Yes China did crackdown on AAS but not general chemicals.
I had T/D on sub 2 weeks these past few weeks
It's really not unsurprising you can't connect the dots.
The threat to eliminate de minimus shipments, the billion+ packs a year that enter the US without inspection or tariffs, was largely justified by the contraband being slipped in with the flood of legitimate goods.
Any illegal goods found added fuel to that fire, puts China in a worse negotiating position, and hundreds of billions in legitimate trade via de minimus would be put at risk. So China decided to close the tap on their end, for now.
Regardless, customs has clearly tightened. The vendors stopping oil shipments weren't doing that for no reason.
They've barely begun implementing new controls on packs, de minimus reform legislation is still pending, the hundreds of millions allocated to increase customs inspections haven't even begin to flow, but it will.
Only an idiot claims things are the same as they were a year ago and says everything will return to the way they were. Being prepared by keeping a buffer supply on hand isn't "fear mongering", it's acknowledging the obvious risks of higher prices and lower availability in the future.
