DHEA or Pregnenolone

I do have deficiencies of Cortisol and DHEA and Aldosterone, which I know of. My concern with using Pregnenolone is that one does not know what it is going to convert to. I am concerned it may convert a lot to Estrogen or maybe progesterone. For this reason I am wondering if it would be better to supplement the actual hormones I need like Cortisol and DHEA, or use pregnenolone and hope it converts to the hormones I am deficient in.

find a trained antiaging physican in your area on work on correcting these deficiencies. They can all be restored to healthy values.

That is easier said than done unfortunately.

I took 20mg DHEA twice today and I noticed a great difference, especially with the first dose.

supplementing with dhea, pregnenolone, and hydrocortisone all together is complicated business. I wouldn't want to be doing this on my own--even with a good cook book of protocols (which I've got!). We've all heard stories of guys adding hormones and feeling good for a while and then losing whatever good feeling they've had because the doses or meds were wrong.

I'm not doing this on my own. This was doctor recommended, and confirmed by my own research.

I once found a doctor off of the www.worldhealth.net website and he ended up being a joke. An expensive joke at that. There are very few physicians out there that have the required knowledge in this field for me to feel sufficiently comfortable with them, without double checking what they are doing.

It is sad to say, that I am more knowledgeable on HRT than any doctor I have encountered to date. There are very few SWALE's out there. If it were not for boards like this and of course SWALE's tremendous contributions, I would be very much the worse off.

At least now I know what I am dealing with. I think it is very important that anybody needing HRT know quite a bit about the subject, especially these days. Perhaps one day when HRT becomes as common as treating the Flu, then it won't be necessary.

Thanks for the info headdoc. If the need should arise, I'll keep her in mind.

HeadDoc--That's VERY cool!

I must have missed something. I'm not sure if headdoc was trying to be helpfull or insulting. Since he was helpfull before I am giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Headdoc - what say you?

I save my venom for the gym. Your initial posts did not indicate that you were doing this under medical supervision and I was concerned. I can be sarcastic, just not in this thread. Now that thread on some crap being offered to raise free test based on three years worth of research with only a few six week trails on a hand ful of guys--I labelled the proponent/developer a snake oil salesman. another AAS guru who I guess feels he can overtake the world of legit TRT--baloney.

Headdoc,

The doc I am currently seeing wanted to do 200mg T Cypionate Injections every 2 weeks. I had to do a lot of convincing for him to consider SWALE's protocol. He said that he would and we are currently working on that.

BTW, from your Nickname, are you a doctor?

Doctoring with a heart.

The doctor I am seeing is a great guy. He listens, doesn't have an ego and is open minded. I am fortunate.

Regarding all of my questions, I am just trying to learn, like everybody else.

Swale,

What is your opinion of pregnenolone?

BTW, have you considered writing a book?

My comment was in reference to the physician who is seeking to treat the CAUSE of mental illness, instead of merely masking its symptoms with drugs.

I would like love to write book--when I can find the time. I have got to stabilize my practice financially first.

I have no experience supplementing pregnenolone. I have begun watching it, though.

1cc--I have a big heart. AND a big ego to go with it! LOL.

Yes, she is unique, that would save a lot of people from getting their brains fried. I think most guys that are hypogonodal are first prescribed psychiatric medication unneccessarily.

Your contributions are self evident, I'm sure everyone would agree unanimously. As I have said before, if it were not for your information, I personally would be very much the worse off.

I started pregnenolone a few weeks back for mood and memory. I had been taking Provigil for over a year as an off label for ADD. So far so good. I decreased dhea to 25 mg in the process. I'll check out the estrogen effects of this in another month. We don't discuss nootropics on this board so I haven't posted this here before.

HD--Well, perhaps you could lead the charge. I have much to learn in this area.

I want to offer these therapies to my patients.
