Does meal timing matter?

I am curious if meal timing really matters. Does it matter if I simply hit my daily macros, or is it more important to structure diet with carbs around WO schedule? There are too many articles that all seem to have varying opinions. I am sure the responses will vary here too, but I hope some of the experienced BB's here can shed some light for me.

(Sorry if this is a dup post. I searched and nothing came up)

Personally, I believe it doesn't matter. It all depends on preference and what works for you. I believe Alan Aragon and Eric helms have touched up on this subject.

It does not matter

Carbs as preworkout help to fuel the endeavor

As far as protein and cals timed throughout the day? It doesnt matter

If your goal is 400g protein and 4000 cals it doesnt matter if you do it in 2 meals or 7. Result is the same. Simply a matter of preference and satiety

I used to think you HAD to eat immediately after training to utilize that window or youd loose it. That may happen to some but i found as long as i crammed the food at one point or another that day im fine.

And if that wasn't the case you probley wouldnt be as big as saquatch lol!

I used to do 5-6 meals a day, now I just do 3 and a shake. During the week I divide the shake into 2-3 servings. Way more convenient with working full-time and having a life than worrying about eating every two hours. Still getting great results.
Thats my main problem is TIME im doin two jobs not tryin to sound like a complainer but its hard somtimes i got alot of respect to the guys that can get all those meals forked in and still keep their work schedule im still trying to acheive that one.

Thank god for peanut butter is all i have to say

I enjoy not prepping 6 or 7 meal a day
2 or 3 big ones. Real big ones

Yeah, I work in a garage and my hands are generally filthy and covered in grease. It would be different if I sat at a desk or something. Slamming a couple shakes during the day is the best I can do.

Exactly. 3500-5000 calories a day is easy like that. When I go on another crazy 6000+ calorie bulk again I'll add a meal. Until then there's no reason to make things more difficult than they need to be.

I know what you mean im in the concrete buisness so i get grit in my food all the time lol!

Im finding that my digestion is quite slow. Not some thing i always was in tune with. By having 2 or 3 large meals i can control my prego bulge alot better. Even if the macros come out equal to 6 or 7 meals a day. Im seeing the benefits first hand.

Just call it the Big Pudz diet
Works for him
Works for me

I get that bloat sometimes, too. You ever find anything that helps with that? I hate that feeling. I've been adding probiotic Greek yogurt to my shakes and I feel like it might help a little. Might just be placebo though.

I was prepping 8-10meals, eating every 1.5-2.5 hours is hard to maintain with 2 jobs and school, I found that 3-4 BIG meals works best for me.

That shit makes life unmanageable. My ex's family called me Rain Man when I was doing that. Had to have meals with me all the time to eat at certain times. So inconvenient. I don't do bodybuilding, but my results in terms of strength and body composition are still great on less meals.

That and i dont eat carbs every damn meal like you see preached again and again by the big boys on the pro stage. Rice is my best bet...but still bloats me bad

Now that im on the steak and egg diet(modified :) ) i feel alot better. 1.5 lbs steak and 6 eggs 2x daily helps me feel good. I think i digest all that just fine. No bloat or distended mess. No lethargy from the carb bloat. I think they call that insulin sensitive? Idk carbs in wheel barrows full fuck me up

How big we talking @gr8whitetrukker ? Whats your calorie intake? I am a lightweight. When I started eating 3k cals a day I was like....maybe this BB thing isn't for me, lol. Thank god I pushed through that and can eat a shit ton of food now.

24 oz steak 6 eggs, 2x daily
Then lunch is the wild card. Ill have carbs with that. Maybe chicken or beef or pork to break the monotony

Hmm this is contrary to what Iv heard. If you don't eat all morning and lunch and then have all your meals from 6pm onwards that can't be good even if you hit your macros. Sure it doesn't matter if you eat every hour or whatever but you can't starve your body for 10 hours after waking up...?
Iv always done IIFYM but made sure to go no longer than 3hrs without atleast a snack.
And if you eat 150g protein in one sitting I doubt your body can absorb all of it

This part really doesn't make sense if you think about it. We evolved from hunters that might not have even got to eat every day. They might kill a wild boar and smash all of it immediately because they had no way to store it and then not eat for a few days. You think the body can't make use of that? You never hear that about carbs or fats either. Not trying to knock on you here because that's a common myth, but think about it.
