Dogs

Zoe marks her 4th month with us this week. She has had quite the transformation. She arrived with TNTC [Too Numerous To Count] ticks, fleas, & parasites, skin abrasions/lesions/sores, malnutrition [~25 pounds], ear infection, brittle/dry fur, severe heartworm infection [cough, shortness of breath, exercise/walking intolerance], and more.

During these months, Zoe has come almost full circle. She has gained 35+ pounds, skin has healed, fur is bright, thick, & soft, ears perfect, TNTC no more [none], but one scary treatment remains - heartworms.

Zoe has had the monthly heartworm treatments to keep them at bay and is now healthy enough for the full course. For those that do not know, treatment is arsenic based. This is the scary part.

One day at a time ...

WARNING; don't feed your dog marrow bones or lots of rich fats.

Working dogs need a bit more fat in their diet to function, lean meat is not enough for a working dog.

On the down side as dogs age they are susceptible to pancreas issues with high fat diets.

I throw my dogs a recreational chewing marrow bone, big leg bones. They spend hours cracking them open and sucking the marrow out.

My old girl got sick, got blood work done and amylase was off the charts. Pancreas could not cope. This is not about body fat or weight. Its about consumed fat and the pancreas.

Been 4 days at vet, predict take home this weekend.

This is preventable guys, marrow bones are too rich for dogs.

I cried like a bitch at vet, embarrassing.

Hey I shedded a tears for my dog a couple times ....not embarrassing brother !!!! Gotta tell you if people would act half as good as my late buddy the world would be a better place !!

This guy was my only buddy in dark times. No matter how shit things seemed, Uzi would always be there, waiting to spot me :)

Had to run into the mall with my mountain bike on the roof of my car (three locks attaching it to my car cause costs the same as my car) with the window wide open for my German Shepard. As I’m walking out of the mall (was inside for 2 mins tops) some junkie is walking up to my car with his arms raised to try and grab my bike and Even
Though without a grinder he’d never get it off it was cool as fuck t see him jump when my dog barked once he touched the bike guess he didn’t see him laying down in the back. Best security system in the biz. Love my dog and he’s a gentle giant and I don’t think he has ever barked in the car before so that was a big one. He only barks when someone comes onto my yard or a new person enters the house or on command so nice to know he protects my stuff too
