-No leg press today, way too many people in the gym. I could barely move. Decent session, though. Deadlifts felt a little heavy, but they moved well.

All sorts, man.. dudes in jeans and work boots, old ladies, young kids curling on the only bench available.. shit was stereotypical.
Hey now, jeans and work boots are the glue that keeps this country together. On the flip side these they need to bring gym clothes just like everyone else.

My gym isn’t as susceptible to the “resolutioneers” as the rest of the normal gyms but now that you mentioned it....I did see a couple randos in there today. One of them was doing barbel rows in the power rack. I wonder how long until he get told what’s up by some dude that eats his total on a bench single. Lol

I wear jeans and work boots daily...but never in the gym, lol.

That’s the plus side of a PL gym, besides the many other benefits. Hopefully when we get our house it’s closer to the PL gym in the city.

Unfortunately the only gyms in my neighborhood are a Golds and Anytime fitness. Golds fills up with New Years people for at least a few months. Gold is fairly decent but full of gen pop and doesn’t like chalk has shitty squat racks etc. It’s well worth the drive across town to a real powerlifting gym

Nearest real powerlifting gym for me is an hour or so drive unfortunately. Never been there, but on their page it says if you shit yourself or puke while lifting there you get a free shirt.

That's amazing.
Weve all puked after a crazy set lol.
As of yet, havnt shit myself, thankfully.

We have a couple good ones where I am, but the closest is 45 minutes away, cant invest in that amount of time.
They focus mostly on Olympic style lifts instead of the big 3, but still a solid gym.
Doesnt have thr same gritty atmosphere, but at least chalk isnt frowned upon.

I remember bringing chalk to an anytime fitness once, owner snapped.

Fit4less is the same, I just hid it and still used it. Glad I found a PL gym the only complaint I have is not enough equipment.

I've actually never puked or shit myself from lifting, knock on wood. I have seen spots, stars, and flashes of light after deadlift before. Had the chalk thing happen, never went back to a gym that doesn't allow it. And yeah, over an hour drive is just too much time investment for me. I've thought about going on a heavy day like once a month, but never have.

No shit, felt like puking bit didn't. Stars and near passout from deads, yes.

Today was an rest day. I was gonna go do some cardio but the gym closed at 12 for new year—lame. I’m reluctantly adding in cardio on my rest days, though... That, along with restricting cals to ~2800 should provide some decent results in the coming months. I just hope the combo doesn’t effect my numbers too much.

Also decided to periodize ME / DE Upper into 3 week blocks, keeping my volume day consistent. I’m hoping this will help with any sticking points. looking something like:

Week 1-3
DE + Volume
Week 4-6
ME + Volume

And so on... while keeping my power days the same, since my squat and DL have responded pretty wel to what I’m doing right now.

I actually almost passed out yesterday after 455 x8... lol. I wanted 10, and had the strength for it, but i started losing my vision and my hearing lmao. I had to drop the bar and sit down.

Good to see guys like you hustling at the gym.
I see too many guys hitting reps... then stopping when there is tons left in the tank.
Yesterday was squats, my workout partner almost passed out 3 times.
Had to catch him once.

You dont see stars, you ain't trying brother!
Keep it up!

High rep DL’s and for some odd reason heavy OHP always get me. Squats I’m usually ok with. I’m not sure what it is about the OHP, but I always feel I’m about to pass out when I do 3RMs or heavier.
