Favorite dog breeds?

Going to go for a shepherd/herding/hunting type

Malanoise, German Shepherd, springer spaniels, labs,

Crazy ass loveable dogs.

Smaller dogs ...

Maybe a corgi? Little beefy dogs. Can take a kick(accidental)

Just the hair with these dogs are an issue. .

All of these dogs have always responded to strong commands from me. Whether my dog or not. They understand who is in charge and loving at the same time.

Maybe Laclark89 is thinking about dogs that have an aggressive temperament.

Idk about those.
They always say it's not the dog, it is the owner.
But in some cases, I believe that up to a point.

Do you think they were wrong to ban pitbulls, japanese Tosa , Dogo Argentino, Fila Braziliero and XL Bully where I am?

Yea I agree it’s wrong too ban any dog,
And I said just an overly excited dog not even just aggressive. I think it does have a lot to do with an owner , but dogs are like people they all have minds and temperaments of their own. I think it has a lot to do with the parents of the dog also.

If anyone had a cat that had 1 parent that was feral u would know what I mean.

When some buy a expensive dog or any dog most wana go meet the parents to check the temperament

..
He’ll yea I’ve given almost zero thumbs down I just reply I disagree, u wanted to be a little b and dislike my comment you could have just posted u disagreement but wanted to talk crap + a thumbs down. I bet u voted for Kamala Harris and support the lgb what ever movement.

You guys, it's ok to a different opinion.

As for the political side of things, querido you couldn't be more wrong, lol

This, sorry could QUOTE in edit:

"When some buy a expensive dog or any dog most wana go meet the parents to check the temperament"

I thought it was more to do with the breed, tbh

Yea I Dident start it, just because u disagree doesn’t mean u have to passive aggressively talk crap a dislike.

the the video he posted it was funny,

But that really solidifies my point of view if anyone likes it or not. I said certain circumstances. What would u do at the dog park and u had a 100+ pound monster that wanted to go after something , or even a trail and got excited and wanted to go after a squirrel.

I ment presa
A friend of mine has one, he said it costs more to feed than his Pitt bulls or an American bulldog, once I lost my last one I just started getting cats, not wanting a monster around my kids anymore , Even though they do protect, never wanted to take the risk.
I’m a cat daddy now.

I was always more a dog person.
Now, though, I also like cats.
I love how quiky, independent and clever they are.
My mum' s cat goes walkies with her and the dog sometimes, he follows them, lol.
I love how they purr, sit on your lap to sleep and give little kisses with their nose.

This is about dog breeds and I would never buy a dog.
Unless one has a specific need, like OP, I think there are so many abandoned or who need a home.
Paying for one feels wrong, when they are all so amazing creatures.
Sure, you pay for looks, if that what you want.

We' ve had 3.
All abandoned or were not going to have a home, shortly after being born.
The one my mum has now, I don't like much lol, but he is ill and so don't know how long he will be around.
He is old and she said she will not get another one.
But the first two were unreal.
I loved them to bits, way more than people. True.
Good job I wasn't home when they died.
So my mum buried them, etc.
I hate things dying...
Too much of a retard to be able to deal with stuff like that.
So, no pets for me...

I took them all back, next time don’t be a little b, And cry about something. Just state ur point of view. Respectfully.
Me being a little b? Im not the one that went back and disliked stuff that didnt involve any of this, and then pulling other shit into this and saying bs about me, think you need to step back and think about your stupid ass how you act, because not once did I insult you or imply your political beliefs.
Im out while I am still calm becus I aint getting banned over you

Stop.
Please.
This is silly.
Agree to disagree end of, no one needs to get banned over a dislike....
Writing stuff in haste, sometimes, or misunderstanding and then here we go.

I like you two a lot, you both know that, so please don't do this.
Look

:) :) :) :) :)

It looks cruel but this brand and with the spikes, it’s the only way to control and teach a big excited dog. A regular chocker just won’t cut it and since it has the spikes I think it actually gives them a little space to breather better.
If you have a dog that needs one of these in public then you either have a loaded weapon (a K9 police unit) and/or they should have a basket muzzle in place as well.

You've already lost the war if you can't get a giant ass dog like that under control without prong collars. If you can't control them via other means that don't involve inflicting pain (pain is different from discomfort), then don't keep that dog as a pet.

They may "work." But man, that fucking dog is totally eating your carcass within 60 seconds of your dying breath if you ever depart this Earth before them. That's not a true human-animal bond ...just my opinion (and I have zero affiliation with PETA...lol).

EDIT:
Source: have laid hands on and had to fuck with some bad-ass police dogs. I understand the raw power and when you're fucked... you're fucked. (But are we talking pets are working dogs? I guess if we keep the issues clear, it might keep the training debate cleaner....lol)

As for favorite dog breeds:
- as family pet: goofy ass Treeing Walker Coonhound or some mutt variation of a hound.
- childhood dog: St. Bernard (love 'em but you gotta like slobber)
- most trainable: Golden Retriever, Aussie Shepherd (very different tasks though...lol)
- Guard dog: I don't know how you beat a Rottie with that thick ass neck and bite force.

Breeds that scare the shit outta me: Anatolian shepherd (they just aren't wired to really be pets...they gotta be guardians)

Breed I expect to have sitting on my porch when I'm 80, my wife has left me, and the kids are all too busy to come around: Shih Tzu:eek::D

Narta sounds like he has fucked with some serious breeds (and I agree with his evaluation of them..not that anyone asked...lol). Dogo are a strange breed - I think bear hunting in South America was there original purpose. They can be goofy as shit and they can be terrifying as shit...really does depend what we do to them.

As a whole, humans have fucked up dog breeds beyond belief. The mini-Aussies and over breeding of French Bulldogs...the ever-expanding variations of -Doodles (like...wtf). Fuck humans (well, I guess that's more socially acceptable than fucking other things anyway)

Like wise , and I felt I was gana get my shoulder dislocated from a 90ish pound dog and I’m a bigger man.
Lol exactly. I’m under 200 pounds now so I can get tugged

It's not the dog, its the handler. Yes some have traits unique to the breed that the handler needs to take into consideration px my AmStaff is not off leash when a female dog is around, cause it dog same sex aggressive by design.
What would u do at the dog park and u had a 100+ pound monster that wanted to go after something , or even a trail and got excited and wanted to go after a squirrel.
You don't get a dog into a dog park. That's a human way of thinking to force socialize the dog.
If you have a dog that needs one of these in public then you either have a loaded weapon
On point. Prongs is a means to an end to VERY specific needs

Agreed.

Wild boar for the D.Argentinos. Then you have the South African Boerboels that are hunting lions and shit, and the ultimate big dog - fuck you, eat you, spit you and then pee on you, the Tibetan Mastiff. They left those in the villages when they went for hunting and no one even considered to fuck around, because they always found out the hard way, that there is hell on earth and it hurts all they way till you die.

Seen some Boerboels. Unfortunately in the US, they just tend to become fat slobs (though I never got the back story on how he got 2 of them..owner loved the dogs but did take shitty care of them...lol).

Tibetan Mastiff is a breed that fascinates me but I have no clue how I will ever come across one in real life. (I think I read they're like the world's rarest breed but that could have just been a Google ad i accidentally clicked on or something... probably from my daughter looking up various rare breeds...lol). Of course, I get I could get on Facebook and find 6 breeders of "Tibetan Mastiffs" in my area... fucking humans....lol.

Full stop. No the hell it isnt. No good trainer is using those

Boo, u changed the pfp to the evil, scary one, so u upset?
Where did you find this pix, it gives me nightmares...

Anyway, yes, giving pain to an animal is likely to not teach them much/anything, just make them scared.
I think you are right, there.
So, maybe more aggressive/dangerous, as a result?

Like Randall was pointing out, it's pets we are dealing with.
Maybe in other settings this stuff is used.
But I cannot think how productive it could be, in reality.

I have just seen a picture of a few puppies like Yrsa sitting all together, snow white.
So cute.
And one that was so massive, standing up against a fence, it was taller than the owner next to him, lol.
Looked like a horse.

The akita you like has a cartoony face.
Something, about it, kind of makes it look like a toy.
If it makes sense...

Cant imagine it helps them not be aggressive,
Also dont think a police dog equals a home pet, but Im chill now Im not here to argue anything you know how I feel about the collars. Not something Id ever use.

Which one did you look at? Theres the japanese akita, which is small and then the one I wanted, which is big, is the American Akita.

Looked like a horse is very accurate for them hahaha

Mastiffs need space to move and guard. They are VERY territorial and acknowledge one master. When I had Hera, my 1st presa, my gf at the time, spend the night at my place and she woke me in the middle of the night screaming. She went to the bathroom and Hera decided to immobilize her just outside the door, until I gave her the command to stand down. Next day she went looking for pets from her. A couple days later, same scenario, Hera standing 6ft away. We split the day after lol

As for the Tibetans, man... Majestic beasts. They are the sweetest dogs to their family and the worst, most fearsome evil sob for anyone else. A friend of mine has one, cost him pretty penny too (let's say you can buy a good condo with the money). I am not afraid of many things and only two breeds: A Tibetan that I entered its domain without permission and a K9 Belgian Malinois that has been ordered to take me down. I will shit my pants on both occasions.

That pic of all them puppies staring at the camera...and I can't even get 1/2 my kids to look at the same time...lol.

Never seen an American Akita or heard of it...neat!

Awesome stories. I have a feeling Hera was more perceptive than you and was saving you some trouble...lol.

I am in awe you have experienced these things (I know there simple...but man, to see these specific breeds in action as meant to be is a great life experience for any true pet owner and animal lover).

I love interacting with even aggressive animals. It's the stupid ones on the other end of the leash (usually a retractable leash...with zero control of their companion) that strike fear and anger in my heart. (Like "oh he ain't never bit no one....well, at least not broke no skin that I know of.") Dogs respond well to confidence and competence. Beta humans - well,.usually quite the opposite...lol.

Totally in awe of your friend and the Tibetan Mastiff... that's what I clicked on....how expensive they were! Totally believe it and glad they're priced that way!

Ya Akitas look pretty neat, its hard to find breeders that breed them on the bigger side though. After isha, think ill try my hand at a male one of her though..
IMG_0324.webpIMG_0326.webpIMG_0325.webp

Akitas are pretty, but make no mistake, they are stubborn as they come. American Akitas I don't know, but the Akita Inus... man... they can make a mule seem like the most cooperative animal in the world. They need a special kind of stupid to own them
