They always kept the akitas well away from all the other dog corals at the AKC shows where we used to show our Rottweiler. You’d hear constant growling and scuffles coming from those areas all day.Akitas are pretty, but make no mistake, they are stubborn as they come. American Akitas I don't know, but the Akita Inus... man... they can make a mule seem like the most cooperative animal in the world. They need a special kind of stupid to own them
We got our Rottweilers from Graudstarks Rottweilers which was the gold standard German breeder here in America for many years until the old man died. Our dog Paddington came from Luger and Sasha and was 1st or 2nd in every show he entered until he was about 4 when then he nipped a judge during the testicle check.
$2k+ for a Rottweiler in the 80s! You had to sign an agreement that they could come and take the dogs 2 weeks before any show so they can get him disciplined and trained up for the show and they held perpetual studding rights and collected all proceeds when Paddington and Kujo were used for studding. I loved those dogs and we had them during a time where there was hardly any American breeders so it was very rare to see another one back in those days.
