General Anesthesia while on PEDs

So I guess I’ll just show up with my list of supplements and medications and let them know my testosterone is higher than average and about my bp meds and that sometimes my bp can run a little low as a result. I don’t think this should be a reason to cancel the procedure.

The only problem would be the BP Meds.

I had both my Hips replaced while On-Cycle.
No Problem with anything................. JP
P.S.
Just give them a heads up on the BP Meds, and the Anesthesiologist can handle the rest.

agreed. I’m on gabapentin as well. Will make sure to let them know all my meds and supps but just be a little vague about injectables and say i’m on high testosterone for sports

i’ve seen they sometimes do a ketamine/benzo combo in replacement of propofol in cases of bp meds or gabapentin but looks like no interactions with gear there either

What!!! I could have had a free khole!!! Dammit.

Gabapentin was the med that really cause my heart to have issues going under, turns out after 1 year after surgery my mom said, they almost lost me…. I took my normal gabapentin dose before thinking no big deal. 900 mg, that morning. SO be careful! I was wrong, and nobody said anything to me, like i said a year later it came up, discussing with mother, and she just happen to mention that.

Edit, was having very very poor heart rhythm badly, and bad breathing.

Interesting. Sorry to hear that. I’m on 300mg Ive been looking at getting off since it’s been for mood and it really doesn’t do anything to combat mood especially on PEDs lol, but the withdrawal from it and tapering process can lead to some nasty effects so I’m waiting until after my show when I start cleaning myself out and getting some surgeries taken care of

Did the doctor know you were on gabapentin? I’m not planning on taking my meds or supps that morning, so it’ll be over 24 hours separated but obviously it’s in my system

Doctors can be so shitty. Leave the mental health part to psychiatrists. It’s the patient’s choice to undergo a procedure that can re-trigger addiction. The most they should do is educate. Me personally, I’ll be talking to my AA sponsor and getting on the same page as I’m in recovery and know that going under anesthesia can bring some stuff up for me

Has anyone here gone under while on cycle? I’m on some test and mast injectables only with good HR, BP, and HCT. The procedure is an endoscopy which is typically a simple one. So wondering if anyone knows about interactions between this and the anesthetic propofol. I’ll be telling the anesthesiologist about this but wondering the risk of them wanting to cancel the procedure. I’m on prep so would prefer to not come off to only have to come back on and dig much harder down the line
Not sure if you've had your procedure yet, when it comes to going under, the biggest contributing factor for issues is if you have sleep apnea.
I had apnea for years (I just had deviated septum surgery last summer, which cleared it up), however, I went under for a Endoscopy/Colonoscopy about 4yrs ago now to determine the same issue sounds like you have (esophageal hernia). During that procedure I stopped breathing, and they had to intubate me.
I had several other surgeries after that (shoulder, knee, deviated septum). I just advised about the sleep apnea and they were prepared.
Note, it has been reported that being on anabolic can cause obstructive sleep apnea, due to the increased weight.

Now, to the Esophageal Hernia, that's a whole different thing. I had mine repaired, as the organ displacement that pushed through the esophageal wall was larger than my heart and pushed against my heart when inflamed.
The healing process for that is slow, and the diet SUCKS! Nothing solid for about 4wks. I prepared for mine having several tubs of protein, fruit and soup (although nothing hot for like 2 wks).

If you have any questions specifically about that surgery and recovery, feel free to reach out.
Cheers and sending luck with healing vibes!!!

Really appreciate this. Unsure if I have sleep apnea. If I did, it might have gone away as I just lost over 25lb on prep. I’ll advise that I may have sleep apnea and do snore though. I suspect I could have a hiatal hernia as well. I’m prepared to get a surgery done after my rebound during the cruise as well as a colonoscopy. Basically all the shit to make me a better bodybuilder lol. Were you able to lift at all during the first 4-6 weeks of recovery or did you have to wait until after that?

So, if you're prepping... don't do the surgery until after you have your contest, or whatever you're preparing for. This is best done "off season".
The first 2 weeks is no lifting over 10lbs on that surgery. Then it's a slow progress from there. For me, I lucked out as it was during the Vid lockdown. I had a home gym set up and just slowly got into lifting and did a ton of trail running. I got really lean and slowly added PED's about 2 months in, but still did not lift heavy as you don't want to blow the wrap placed for the Nissen fundoplication. Essentially.. if you go heavy too fast before it has time to build up.. you'll be back in the same position.
There is a lot to haital hernias.. they just suck. Not like the typical hernias body builders and powerlifters get.

When you go for surgery, be sure to ask about the chances of Rapid Gastric Emptying Syndrome and how to mitigate those chances. I am one of the rare people it occurred to.. and it sucks as ya crap a ton and lose a lot of nutrients due to it. This is all for another topic that I am working on... EPI (Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency), Gastric Emptying and using PED's to improve nutrient partitioning. Kinda being my own guinea pig.

any use to raising test or using gh to speed healing process from a surgery like that? assuming bpc+tb would help too

Propofol sedation during endoscopy will be brief. I would be more concerned about the effects of peds on your body. As in. High blood pressure, sleep apnea or congestive heart failure. But your oral peds could be causing the gastritis.

I don’t take oral peds and currently have perfect or occasionally slightly low bp. Will let the anesthesiologist know I snore though

So, I can't speak to that as I didn't try anything until about 2 months after, which was just bumping up my standard TRT and added low Deca for my joints.
With BPC, I didn't start using this peptide until this last Fall 2023. I do know that BPC is in the oral version was originally researched for IBS and stomach ulcers. Since the oral is devolved into the stomach, I don't know if it would actually benefit the Hiatal hernia due to how far up it is. Also note, the oral version of BPC is very expensive.

This is the procedure I specifically had, then they wrapped the esophagus with a mesh to strengthen it.
In laparoscopic surgery, a surgeon inserts a tiny camera and special tools through several small incisions in the abdomen. The operation is then performed by a surgeon who views images from inside the body that are displayed on a video monitor.

For all this to heal right, it takes a lot of time, so I didn't do any squats for 4 months, light leg presses and didn't step it up until about month 6 as it is possible to blow out the wrap with the pressure of lifting heavy.

You can swallow the peptide from the vial, doesnt need to be a special oral version, would be something that sounds like it would help alot

That sounds awful, dam all of that, glad its ok now, the soft tissues of body are hard to heal when food constantly had to bypass, or intestines

@buzzingonaas I just watched this. Very interesting stuff that you might find valuable?!
No doubt others have heard of Vig Steve and his Youtube, I realize he's a youtuber and some don't agree with him or others in the space. I find some of his deep dives have good info. Here he goes into gut healing with various peptides, supps, etc. Just putting this out there if you're interested, if not, no worries.

Update for anyone in the future going under anesthesia:

My heart rate stayed in the low 50s and blood pressure was perfect. I did skip my GH dose this morning but took my GH, test, and mast yesterday. I lowered my telmisartan to 40mg starting 4 days ago and took it as normally yesterday. I skipped my gabapentin yesterday. Everything went well heart and breathing-wise

I’ve got a shit ton of ulcers and an inflamed esophagus though probably from the inflammatory off-season slamming tons of carbs and good amount of sugar towards the end to get the calories in. Don’t let your reflux go unchecked! Now I’ve got a long time to heal these ulcers lol. Diet was just tweaked to be very low inflammatory and gut healthy

when u tell them about a big boy stack with sarms peptides etc., I guess they don't even have a clue when u'd say I am on "RAD140, SR9009, Cardarine, Ostarine, MK677" etc. :D
