How much ya skwaat?

65" and 210. Haven't used in well over half a lifetime, 46 now. Get radial burns across the back to deal with pain just from being upright. More to that story.

500 for 5. Best Belt and APT convict wraps and no spotter. I just cannot push it further without someone watching my back. Then again, I am insane for doing this. Period.

Once spotted a guy, many years ago, at 185 who did 600 for 2. I felt S M all.

Been working on my squats for a few months now, I took a few years off because they hurt my lower back a bit, now im warming up alot and taking it slower

Did a single with 365 this week, usually only do reps with 315 but it all felt light and I was on a deload week from DL so my back was 100%

Just did my first front squat ever today. Since the general trend in meso is the front squat. I feel like sometimes when a meso member has a good thing going. Someone will follow, next thing you know, all of meso is doing it. Right now that is the front squat.

I did 135 for 10 using oly grip. I do like these alot. I tried cross grip and then oly. I went ASG. I always do.

I will be upping the weight next time. I am just working on form. I am going to switch it up every time back squat, then front squat then back, and etc. I have long torso and legs. So When I back squat i lean foward bad. So the front squat has me leaning back more. I have fixed my back squat by looking up and chest out but I need to stretch and work on my flexibility, as well as my hip strength. So I will be squatting 2-3 times a week for my whole tren cycle. I am excited to see my progress. I am working on compound movement more now.

O yea my max was 300 on back squat. I started last year squatting the first time in my life. I was doing 135 max. lol. I had a bad tendonitis problem from dunking, and always jumping in bball. So This was after I fixed my knee up through pt.

I hope to get 315. Right now my max is probably 225. I have a weak squat much better with deadlift. Which is 450 max.

Do you plan on following any type of progression program? I'd say perfect your form for the next four weeks or so and throw up some weight.

Figure out your estimated max and follow an 8 week program based off your max. You'll see huge progress if you've never done anything like that. Front squat will 100% carry over into your back squat and deadlift and strengthen your core tremendously.

excellent this is what I like to hear. I will be doing this.

PR - 345 for 4 last week. (6' and 208lbs)

I don't do ATG, but I def go below parallel. My goal is to get to 4 plates for reps this year.

BTW, I see many commenting on their ATG efforts, why would I even want to go ATG? I'm not an oly powerlifter, I don't to snatch and cleans, so what's the point with ATG for me?

I'm actually considering going with partial ROM and go heavier instead - ref this article: The Truth About Ass-to-Grass Squats | T Nation - that'd reduce the amount of lumbar flex too, and my lower back is the weak link. (I am doing Romanians to bring this up however.)

Also doing more front squats - feels like they hit the quads a great deal more - I'm just pathetically inflexible so I have to front squat cross armed. :)

ATG or not ... Some swear by ATG and although I can't do them without breaking a knee, I am sure they must be lovely to do. From a PL perspective though, none of them big boys do ATG, very likely for the reason that you won't squat big boy plates with a hole that goes all the way down to the ground and back up. D

ATG avoids any pain that I feel in my knee when doing squats.
ATG is supposed to be easier on knees than parallel or partial because it gets rid of the shear placed on the joint when stopping and starting.

The main benefit of ATG is more glute and hamstring engagement, and less quad.

Another PR this morning - 365 for 6 - parallel, with belt - still no oly shoes, just my thin-soled Inov8

The Romanian work has clearly helped, my back felt much stronger. Toward the last 2 reps, the back was clearly the weak link again, as I could feel myself starting to lose the arch.

New experience! I could finally feel my glutes engaging, so the links in the chain are starting to get a bit more balanced. I still feel nothing particular in my quads, they must still be the strongest link by far.

After a bit more Romanian work, perhaps when I hit those vaunted 4 plates, maybe then my back, glutes and quads will all feel the load more uniformly.

Anyway, an interesting experience to see how just a handful of Romanian workouts produced such an improvement.

405 for reps isn't far away! Gimme 2 scantily clad women cheering me on, and a whiff of ammonia, and I can probably do it now. :-)

Height 5'7"
Weight 167

I workout with me, myself and I. I don't feel comfortable maxing on sqaut rack even though there are adjustable safety bars. Most I've ever squared on sqaut rack is 265x10, I only go down slightly above 90, so not ATG.

On smith Machine where I feel less chance of injuries, my max is 405x5 lowered to slightly above 90 degrees.

If you want to engage the quadriceps more during squats try maintimg a more upright torso. And front squat the fuck out of the barbell as wel.

Big milestone for me
Front Squats
315x4
First 2 were all the way down. Last 2 were just parallel. It started shocking me how heavy it was to pull my ass out of the hole lol
Got half way thru the fifth and it pulled me over. Unfortunate really
Vids to back my claim up

Set out 10 weeks ago to get to this mark. I was only doing 225x5 then. So I covered alot of ground!
