I really like Modafinil - even at low doses

I’m taking 25mcg T3 in the mornings with my 200mg Modafinil and coffee and it is really helping my energy in the mornings.
work is killing me so i did not read everything, but, should you not be splitting that 25mcg into morning and noon?

Hi everyone ! Been reading the thread and seen that most people run quite a high dose.

What about a 50mg to help the day and help a diet ? Is it worthless to get under 100mg ?

Been under methylphenidate but hate it !
Are you prescribed methylphenidate?

I have to say, you’re doing a very good job talking me into taking it more regularly (not that you’re trying to).

I am very pro GLP1. I just started Retatrutide almost four weeks ago.

I take low dose lithium (10mg) and Telmisartan (40mg), along with aggressive ApoB reduction, all which have shown to be potentially anti dementia (I also take pregnenolone which could also be useful for brain health). But none of these things have a “smart drug” effect like Modafinil.

That’s being said, I do personally notice a slight increase in blood pressure on days I take Modafinil. Perhaps this is short lasting with continuous use, but not sure.

I haven’t read the whole thread. How much do you personally take?
I am curious about lithium, do you find it has any mood stabilizing effects at 10mg?

I could use something like that, I am not prone to anger but yo-yo between hypomania and depression more often than I'd like to admit.

It’s hard to say what I notice from taking low dose lithium, especially since I take a number of things so it’s hard to point out what is doing what. I have also been taking it for years now, so being on it is normal to me. It just has some promising data for preventing cognitive decline and it’s cheap so I take it just in case it works. I don’t see any harm in trying it.

You may find low dose (15mg) ariprazole useful. It's called an "atypical antipsychotic" but a very effective mood stabilizer at low doses with minimal sides. Known as "Abilify" it's available from the India PCT vendors.

Friend of mine who really likes it said "Ariprazole gets rid of the asshole".

Very interesting suggestion, I have never heard anyone talk about this drug before. I took some time to briefly look into whether this is worth a shot but I think it's not for me. Reasons being:

* Price, $35-60 per month is a large percentage of my current PED budget
* Low availability (out of 3 PCT vendors I know, only 1 carried it and it ships from Turkey)
* I don't want to add 5th psychoactive drug on top of bupropion XL 300 mg, Vyvanse 50 mg, modafinil 200 mg, eszopiclone 2mg (only the first 2 are prescribed)
* It carries a higher risk of side effects compared to Lithium (I am assuming that 10 mg of lithium orotate from iHerb won't be as strong as an actual pharmaceutical drug, I could be wrong)

Bupropion XL 300 mg has helped a ton with the yo-yoing I mentioned, I was a complete wreck before starting that a couple years ago. I had literal bedridden depression for a couple months as well as moments I would call hypomanic behaviour (never done anything insane, it is more like setting unachievable goals for myself and hyperfocusing on them at the cost of everything else especially sleep, day job, relationships).

I'd say Bupropion has drastically decreased the intensity and duration of both depression and hypomania, but I still have moments that slow me down and lower my quality of life. The improvement after starting bupropion was rapid and noticeable to people around me.

I can tell you're not a fan of Vyvanse and amphetamines/stimulants but I would say that has helped me become way more stable too as well as helping me perform drastically in day to day and work tasks. I have been on break from Vyvanse for about 20 days since starting modafinil.

I am still experimenting with modafinil and eszopiclone trying to increase wakefulness and finally fix my sleep (this time for real bro, I promise!). The more I type it sounds like I should stay away from lithium too for now since I have only added in these 2 psychoactive drugs less than 30 days ago.

I have pretty bad ADHD, take 50 mg Vyvanse per day been on it for about a year. Vyvanse works great so far, mildly stimulating and I find that I just feel more relaxed and confident in my ability to complete tasks.

I never really feel "alert" and "wakeful" during the day (tbh even when I was 19 I can remember feeling this way, 26 now) so ordered some ModAlert 200mg's hoping it would help...

Anyone switched from Vyvanse to Modafinil or found the combo to be synergistic? Should I keep up the Vyvanse or adjust it in any way or drop it completely?

Lots of discussion in this thread about Adderall but not Vyvanse

p.s. I don't really drink caffeine, just makes me anxious and I always crash really hard. I sleep around 6-7 hours per day on average, I don't have sleep apnea.
Shortly after posting this I started taking ModAlert 200 mg per day and completely stopped Vyvanse. Just bupropion 300 XL (brand name) and ModAlert 200 mg in the morning.

I did not feel any Vyvanse "withdrawal" symptoms at all, and in the past I have taken breaks from Vyvanse for around 2 weeks without issue.

For the first 10 nights I also had Hypnite 2 mg's (Lunesta) which helped bump my tracked sleep duration from max 6 hours to an average of 8 hours. But when I ran out I immediately regressed back to 6 hours.

Wakefulness
I can definitely feel the "clean energy" that modafinil brings. I can confirm it's not a stimulant at all, it doesn't "force" you to be awake, you just feel normal.

If you had bad sleep last night, modafinil can help you feel completely normal the next day. But if you sleep badly say 2+ nights in a row there's only so much it can do.

But unlike caffeine or Vyvanse, it doesn't "force" you awake and feel like your energy is being depleted and you're running on fumes. I never felt like modafinil caused/worsened insomnia.

ADHD
To be frank modafinil didn't do jack for ADHD.

Over the past month I felt more impulsive (confirmed by Amazon purchase history), time blind, low executive function, brought back bad behaviours like talking to myself out loud saying random offensive shit, having 50 Chrome tabs open to research 7 different things at once when trying to relax.

I basically regressed to my pre-Vyvanse self and this made me pretty unhappy. Work became harder, socializing became harder, relaxing became harder, I couldn't stay as focused while training, everything was just worse.

It reminds me of in the past when I have taken a short break from Vyvanse and then a week in I'm like "Damn, what the hell happened to me?" and then I remember how much better I am on Vyvanse and I happily resume taking it.

Effects over time
I know @Ghoul has mentioned in this thread that modafinil's effects build up in your system over time. Maybe since it has only been like 30 days that wasn't enough time for me to notice anything.

But I felt the same on day 30 as I did on day 1, I didn't feel any "build up". My ADHD symptoms immediately became worse if I am being honest, but I didn't realize how bad they got until the past few days since the backlog of shit I have to do has piled up.

On the bright side I also felt the wakefulness was as good on day 30 as it was on day 1. So modafinil's wakefulness benefits are immediately apparent.

Current plan
Resume taking Vyvanse 50 mg and modafinil 200 mg in the morning along with bupropion 300 XL.

Re-introduce Hypnite at 3 mg before bed to increase sleep duration.

Advice
Modafinil is perfectly fine, I don't really see a reason to take armodafinil. I never really felt like there was a time when modafinil "peaked" in my system since it's so clean.

200 mg was a perfectly fine starting dose and I am glad I didn't waste time splitting pills and titrating up.

If you take Adderall/Vyvanse continue taking it while you take modafinil and let it do its thing rather than treating it as a replacement.

I gave my friend 50mg armo to try. I think she's in love with it. She responds really well to medication. Going to split moda for her in a day or two. Its my stash so I really need to order more.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Of course everyone's going to respond differently, both in dosages and effect.

There have been documented cases of successful treatment with Moda for ADHD, but it's mixed, as evidenced by this experience.

My advice for starting lower is based on some people telling me they thought 200mg would give them a heart attack, while others feel nothing whatsoever.

Many women in particular seem to do very well at low doses that do nothing for me.

Yeah when my partner started using it I realized my "days of supply" suddenly went way down, lol.

If she ends up using it regularly (which is fine, it's intended for daily use), she may need to increase the dosage a little after 4-6 weeks to get the same effect, but no further tolerance develops after that.

I just started hearing packs from the UAE have been getting seized from time to time, so it's probably a good idea to stock up sooner than later.
