The old "China is polluting real bad so we should be able to do it too!" Is just such a bad excuse. The US is supposed to be the leader of the world, the Best.
Saying green energy that good enough is flat out false. Maybe if we actually invested in our infrastructure we would be able to do it. It does take that much, see
this.
There's no way around it: we are destroying the planet. Offshore drilling and subsequent oil spills, pipelines destroying and fragmenting habitat, and chemical pollution in our land and water are all huge problems. My girl is an ecologist and I have spent an inordinate amount of time studying the subject as well. Trump had the EPA blatantly ignore multiple findings in the interest of big business:
from PFAS in our drinking water to https://www.voanews.com/usa/dow-chemical-pushes-trump-administration-scrap-pesticide-study, to
chemicals used in dry cleaning that have caused countless
American military members' babies to be born still or with heart defects. Also let us not forget his
rollback on fracking regulations that is polluting the hell out of people's backyards. On top of that, in many of his rollbacks he tried to include legislation limiting our ability to implement future legislation on these very same things: he wanted permanent rollbacks to environmental protections regardless of any environmental or even HUMAN health consequences in the future. In short he gives zero fucks about yours or my health and only about the profits of big businesses.
The evidence is irrefutable. Our country is dirtier and more polluted, more toxic, and we will pay the price. We are part of the ecosystem and that is not going to change any time soon.
YES China and India need to wake the fuck up and start SERIOUSLY regulating the shit out of their industries, but those other countries being shitty assholes in mean the USA should be too. We were supposed to be
great. Guess that was nothing more than a catchy slogan though.
