Is it ethical to donate blood while on steroids?

If your recipient is a woman:

- and you are natural at let’s say 600TT, you’re still way above her natural TT range, and they still give her the blood
- the fact that you are at 3000TT and way way over her natural range doesn’t make a difference past that point.

If your recipient is a guy:

He just earned a free short boost, nothing dramatic.
I’d rather my donor pin test than pop xanax and other SSRI

I don’t know that it would be even that much of a boost.
Assuming a 1 pint donation that for easy calculations is 10% of your blood which then gets mixed with another large quantity (another 9 or 10 pints) . I think the dilution effect on any “extras” in the blood other that the strongest of substances woujd be quite substantial ie down to about 1% if my maths is correct

There was someone on meso that did that math of how much test is actually in a single pint of blood.
And how much the receiptant would be effected if they gave someone the entire point (usually it's broken up into 3rds right?)

The end result was it was like absolutely nothing, like minuscule amount even for a female recipient.

Wish I could find that other thread.

I understand, but when it's a question of ethics, no one is going to change your mind.

Yeah I don't share that view. Sure some people are too stubborn to even think about changing anything but beliefs and ethics get challenged often, sometimes you stand your ground sometimes you see things in a different way.

About this particular topic, I made this thread because I wholeheartedly believe that donating blood is one of the greatest things that you can do, but I didn't know what could be the possible drawbacks for the recepient.

And thanks to this thread, I learned about someone's dad who needs constant blood transfusions and that's a POV that I didn't have until now.

I have never once been directly asked if I take testosterone. I have donated a shit ton of blood. This is the question you must answer “no”.

“Have you ever used needles to take drugs, steroids, or anything not prescribed by your doctor.”
I asked them. I often have blood and once I knew I was going on trt, I asked if that’s an issue. They said it’s not. And like I said early I don’t remember who the group of people it is but there is someone who can not take your blood if you’re trt. I was told I just need to tell them once I’m on.

And to your point, the question clearly asks “if not prescribed by a doctor.” They are concerned with shared needles and risky behavior.
