Why do some people gain happiness by making others angry?
I think it only appears that people gain happiness by making others angry. I don’t think that what they get is actual happiness but rather a sense of satisfaction in knowing that they were able to control or manipulate another person.
Some people get some sort of satisfaction out of controlling others, much in the way that a bully feels some sense of power by bullying or picking on other people.
Perhaps it is that these people feel a lack of control in their own lives such as in their work, in their home, in their marriage or with their parents that they have to somehow compensate for that lack of control by feeling like they have control somewhere else.
Yet in the end I certainly wouldn’t consider it happiness. They may get some sort of satisfaction or derive a strange sense of pleasure out of angering others because it somehow helps them feel they are in control of something, but if that is the only thing that makes the person happy or satisfied then it’s likely they are compensating for some sort of dysfunction in their own life.
When you are truly happy with yourself, the world around you and others… there is no need to make others angry.
