Low dose nandrolone - how low can you go?

I was reading the following study:

Tatem AJ, Holland LC, Kovac J, Beilan JA, Lipshultz LI. Nandrolone decanoate relieves joint pain in hypogonadal men: a novel prospective pilot study and review of the literature. Transl Androl Urol. 2020;9(Suppl 2):S186-S194. doi:10.21037/tau.2019.11.03

At a low dose of Deca (median 110mg/week), 13 out of 18 men reported improvement in joint pain.

Question is, how low can you go? I have a serious aversion to water weight or any weight gain in fact (I'm a climber), so I've previously stayed well clear of the type of compounds which promote these effects. But I'm suffering quite a bit of joint pain in my old age and I'm wondering if there's a dose of deca which won't be wet or bulky but will have the therapeutic effects.

Any ponderings would be appreciated.

I use 50mg NPP every five days for this reason. My shoulder pain is completely gone. I've used 25mg as well and it got rid of almost all the pain. Double the mg dosage for Deca since NPP peaks about twice as high per mg but has a much shorter half life.

Nandrolone is just a bandaid
This is interesting. I've been researching the published science and there's very little about the mechanism behind the reported joint pain benefits. It does seem real though, at least according to the literature.

It's quite common for climbers to have painful fingers though. It's not an issue for a rheumatologist.

I just read that recent study and what I got out of the mechanism of action is that bizarre DHN metabolite that seems to effect everything in the body. It would be cool to see them use a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor on some of those men then look at the results.

Thus, the conversion of nandrolone to its 5α-metabolite results in a characteristically different AR activation in androgenic tissues when it was compared to testosterone and DHT with specifically preserved AR activation in skeletal muscle. This discrepancy in AR activity amongst varying tissues serves as the basis behind nandrolone’s potential modern clinical applications.

Have a friend who would get a single 200mg shot once every 2 weeks back in the 70’s from a doc out near Venice beach, he said ,”it wouldn’t be considered jack shit nowadays, but let me tell ya something….WE GREW FROM THAT!!”

I'd say it definitely kicks my TRT and cycles up a notch at that dosage. I won't use more than that because of the effects of nandrolone on the heart (11x the cardiotoxicity of testosterone).

I was pondering adding it to a cycle of 125mg test per week and 25-50mg Anavar a day for performance enhancement without significant muscle gain. I didn't really want to make this into a "what should I take" thread though. I was more interested in tapping peoples experiences and discussing the science if that makes sense?

Yup, just wanted to point out nandrolone on its own can cause issues. 125mg test would be enough to counteract the sexual sides of 100mg Deca I believe.

Cool. I'm not on TRT. So reducing post-cycle suppression is an issue. That's one reason to keep the dose as low as necessary for the therapeutic effects.

That 11x cardiotoxicity is kinda bs IMO. That study they never supplemented their E2. We know low E2 is really bad on the heart. I bet if they had normal E2 in that study the results would of been different.

Currently running 1g of Deca alone, two weeks in and I see zero water retention. The Deca only people say the water retention comes from the combination of test and deca, but not deca alone. Seems to be the case, and I have been eating way more calories since I've started.

I ran 600mg nandrolone solo along time ago. Wasn’t a bad cycle but my E2 was a 7 at five weeks in so I added dbol. I was telling you before to get your E2 checked or add a little dbol. I also had no water retention just like you.
