Meso Powerlifting Corner

Have any of you guys pulled heavy weight using the hook grip? I tried it with some working sets and I got used to the pain but it felt like my thumbs were gonna snap!

I tried it a little a few years ago. Hurt too much to ever go heavy with it. Seemed like the pain slowed down my bar speed as well. I think around 530lbs was the most I ever tried successfully. Gave up on it pretty quick.

I've been using hook grip for about a year now and I love it. It was a little uncomfortable for the first handful of deadlift workouts but I got used to it pretty quick.

This is the largest non equipped deadlift done in powerlifting comp, not certain this was a full meet. I think this was a sanctioned deadlift only. J Browner previously held the record with a 440kg pull in a full meet raw in the 110 kg weight class.

His quads are ridiculous.

@gr8whitetrukker he might have given you a run for your money a couple years ago on ridiculous quads.

But yeah, once Browner gets his grip strength on point I don't think anyone is touching him.
