Naps?

No, i'm not here to discuss the shit bag Moldovan source by the same name. My question is in regards to taking naps during the day.

Is there any evidence, be it anecdotal or scientific, that taking a 2-3 hour nap during the day, on top of the "average" 8 hours of sleep at night, would result in any meaningful increase in recovery and muscle growth?

Should note that i wasn't sure which sub forum this thread was most appropriate for. So i apologize in advance if i chose the wrong one.

Stan Efferding talks about this in his rants and how they helped when he trained for his pro card

I would tend to believe it has its benefits, to some degree. However, personally speaking, when I take a nap, even for an hour or so after working a long shift it will ruin the rest of my day. I feel almost hungover and useless the rest of the day.

Do you feel like this when waking up in the morning too?

Not anywhere near the feeling i get after a power nap...in the AM, it takes a few to get my head together but a nap in the evening just makes me feel like shit afterwards.
Oh okay,
If you have symptoms of headaches, nausea, and tiredness, I'd say look into getting sleep study for possible cpap therapy

I know for a fact that most pros rest/sleep a lot
few of them have full-time jobs (they also train really hard)

Whether they sleep for more than 8 hours at night, take naps or just rest without falling asleep, comes down to personal preference.

I tend to take a nap after getting home from a heavy workout and it has helped me recoup a bit.

I can go to sleep super easy anytime of the day (probably from working swing shifts when I was younger) but I can't do the nap shit I just wake up cranky if it's not a 7-9hr nap. I think it'd probably help guys that don't sleep well at night and I'm not one of those.
